My disappearing necklace has had an entirely appropriate end. It didn't turn up yesterday, so I gave up looking for the time being. Now, in the far corner of my living room is a chair no one sits in much, because it's usually covered in coats and other junk. It's out of the way, and I didn't go near it yesterday, but today my mum came to visit, and went to sit there. We chatted, and got to talking about the missing necklace. Mum told me it was all about positive thinking, and giving up, and then said, "I bet I can find it." I said okay, she was welcome to go look. She leaned forwards to get up, and picked up something from the corner and said, "It's not this, is it?"
It was.
...Spooky. Positively spooky. I'd have thought it was a big practical joke, except it clearly wasn't. So, yay! I didn't eat it! *g* How it got there, I have no idea, though. Oh well.

YAY to finding it though, yeah, a little spooky. (see, Thor beamed it back but he doesn't quite understand how Tau'ri dwellings work so assumed he could just send it anywhere and...)
But yay! Very glad you found it and didn't eat it.
(I don't get to say THAT sentence often)
I forgive Thor, though. He can't be expected to know every little detail.
That Thor, he means well, but sometimes he's too distracted mooning over Jack.
I'm glad it didn't take months. :)
I'm hoping the same thing will happen for me. I lost a ring last week when I took it off to color my hair. Afterwards I went to put both of my rings back on and one was missing and nowhere to be found. Though I am taking it as a message from the gods that it's finally time to get my favorite opal ring sized so I can wear it again. My hand feels naked without a ring.
Aw, I hope you find your ring. It can't have gone far if you didn't leave the house, that's always my theory - although that doesn't help if they slip into cracks in the floorboards or things like that - not far, but not findable, either. Might your cat have played with it?
Kaylee has quite a habit of hiding things. When I came home I used to always put my keys on my dresser. One day I couldn't find them. I tore up the place looking for them and was about to go to get new keys made before my roommate left for the weekend when I found them. They were in my sock drawer. Kaylee must have pushed them into the drawer when it was open and I didn't see them when I closed it. I know put my keys on a hook out of her reach.
Yeah. I had a ring that I lost, and after I gave up, my brother waltzed over to me (well, not literally waltzed, but wev), and handed me the ring. Silly people looking for your stuff can find it.
It really is about positive thinking and giving up, though. I do not understand how it can be so, but the universe responds to confidence. ;-)
Hah.

I was all "Nooo she did eat it!" But it's ok.
Mothers can be freakishly omniscient. Glad you found it!
Usually I think of my mum as ditzy, but I am in awe at her freaky powers, today. :D
But isn't that always the way? We have to pick various order components at work, and they have stickers on them with the order number. Undoubtedly, when one of us can't find one, and we've looked everywhere three times and are simply SURE it just isn't anywhere to be found... we'll give the tag to another person, and they'll find it within 30 seconds.
It must have gotten hooked in your socks or pajama leg or something and when you walked through that room it went flying.
OR! It could have been ALIENS!
Yeah, I think your theory is the most likely... It was aliens! *g*
