Speaking of picspam, I must soon bring you photos of the jousting (OMG) that I went to see, last Sunday. Real-life jousting, in full armour, on horseback! You should've seen those lances splintering.
Hey, look, it's Talk Like A Pirate Day this Sunday...

Featured Character(s): Jack, Sam, T, Jonas, Daniel.
Pairing(s): Sam/Jack
Summary: Sam Carter knew that Chief Pirate Jack O'Neill was glaring at her.
A/N: I started this for the TLAP Day last year, but failed to get it done on time. There was just something about it that didn't work, and I had to put it aside. But today I was tidying up my files, and decided I now knew how to tie it up and get it into the 'finished' folder. I love that feeling.

I love Yahoo's headlines. They're such nonsense. "Robbie Williams could be abducted by aliens and "come back as an ambassador for their race", an expert claims."
Some picspam.

A/N: Seeing as Jenn was one of the people who voted 'Pirates! Ooh, goody!', and it's her apocaficathon for which I'm horribly late, I feel less guilty about this. Anyhow, it's just a snippet, for Talk Like A Pirate Day.
ETA: I should've linked to these earlier, but anyhow. This is the third in a series, starting with Pirating 101, and continuing with Reasons To Be Cheerful.

Okay, so that's me. God I love lj.

Spooky.
Today, splash_the_cat mentioned that the
spacepirate_fic deadline was next week. Argh, says I. And not in a pirate way (which, anyhow, should be 'Arrr', not 'Argh'). In an 'oh shit my story died on me' sort of way. Must get cracking.
This evening, after dinner, I popped to the library (it stays open quite late). I had a look in the Recent Returns, and saw a CD: Sea Songs and Shanties. Aha, says I. Perhaps it may be auditory torture, but it may inspire me to write something - if only so I don't have to listen to it any more. I head to the counter to take it out (wondering who on Earth was listening to it before me, and why).
On the way out, A, who came to the library with me, waves a CD at me. He's been looking in the Pop/Rock section. "Look, more sea shanties," says he. I take a look. It is Rogue's Gallery - featuring songs by Jarvis Cocker, Bono, Sting, Bryan Ferry, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams... I love Lucinda Williams. I went to see her playing live, last autumn. On Saturday I bought her new CD. I also like some of the other artists. I love the Executive Producer of the CD: Johnny Depp, who may or may not sing on the album under the name Jack Shit. So now I have some pirate music that I can bear to listen to that isn't by Adam Ant.
Luckily I'm a big believer in coincidences, or I might have thought this was mondo weird.

Author: Pepper
Rating: PG
Season: Beginning of Season 7.
Featured Character(s): Jack, team
Pairing(s): None
Summary: Jack was weary, and giving some serious thought to going fishing. Like, for the rest of his life. But...
A/N: Okay, I got no responses to the timestamp meme thing, but I'm just going to go ahead and believe y'all love me really and you just didn't spot it (*sniffle*). And so, for my own satisfaction, here is 'Pirating 101' (which, for your edification and elucidation, can be found here), one year later. Title borrowed from Ian Dury and the Blockheads, but that has nothing to do with anything. (And I'm writing a totally different story for the space pirate fic challenge - because I am that odd.)

REALLY THE END THIS TIME.
Wow. Weird, freaky, horrible dream. It seemed to be set in the world of '28 Days Later' - which is a film I've only seen clips of, but apparently that was enough to brand it into my subconscious. I was in a training camp in the woods, being trained by military people in BDUs (only good bit of the dream) in how to fight the scary evil fast infected humans by throwing frisbees, those three-pointed frisbee-esque things, and little bits of Lego at them (my dreams are really stupid sometimes).
And then we heard that someone was setting off huge explosions in the sky. I saw a zeppelin above us, and it began to tilt, like it was sinking, and I suddenly realised it was going to explode, and that there was no where for me to hide. I just kind of ducked into a ball and waited to die a horrible fiery death. But the explosion turned out to be a way of spreading the infection - liquid, not fire - so everyone around me became scary evil fast zombies. I was the only one who didn't get infected because I was already half-werewolf (don't know where that came from). I had claws, so when someone came after me I shredded them, and then burst into tears. Because, damn, it wasn't fun. Then I ran a lot. Hid out in abandoned buildings. Avoided the zombies.
There was more to it, but I can't remember it all, aside from the feeling of horror and futility - I was the only survivor, and I'd have to keep hiding, running and killing if I wanted to live. Ugh. I kept half waking up and trying not to fall back asleep, but to no avail - the dream had its claws in me. So that wasn't much fun.
On the other hand, my space pirate fic is so far being nauseatingly happy, so perhaps I'll try and get some of my dream's atmosphere into it, pep it up a bit.

Pirate fic sort of reposted thing...
(Okay, so these are just lj links, but I've been futzing with things, and... aw, anyhow, this is my way of making sure it's on the front page.)
