If ever there was a case for finding a cure for this terrible disease... it's him.

I know that there is medication for early on-set that can hold back the tide but whether it will help... Even so - next time I see someone collecting for a charity for this illness - they'll get a larger donation than usual.

I am not familiar with this person, and yet...sadness ensues. It sounds, however, like he's keeping a stiff upper lip and focusing on the positive and all that jazz.

Oh dear. Well, I have to hand it to him for taking it with what appears to be a great degree of philosophy...but still. Like you said: bugger.

My first reaction was, to quote Jack O'Neill, "Oh, crap!" My mother died of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and it is a hideous way to go. I hate that his brain, as so many other great ones before him, is taking this path. I am going to go reread Good Omens, one of my favorite books of his--I like many of the Discworld series, but Good Omens is just great.
