News from Terry Pratchett. Pretty much the only thing I can think to say is, "Bugger."

It's stupid - I don't know the man, and he's not dead, and... but I keep welling up. :(

I second your 'bugger' and add a 'damn'.

It's not fair. He turns 60 next year.

I'll third your bugger, damn and add a 'shit'.

Life can a real kick in the ass sometimes :(

He's been my writing hero for years, now - I don't know the man personally, of course, but it feels like I do.

shit! SHIT!

I second you. It's horribly unfair. And I'm welling up, too. :( :( :(

Yeah, I think "bugger" pretty much sums it up. Waaah! It's not fair! Stupid disease. *kicks it*

If ever there was a case for finding a cure for this terrible disease... it's him.

I know that there is medication for early on-set that can hold back the tide but whether it will help... Even so - next time I see someone collecting for a charity for this illness - they'll get a larger donation than usual.

I am not familiar with this person, and yet...sadness ensues. It sounds, however, like he's keeping a stiff upper lip and focusing on the positive and all that jazz.

Oh dear. Well, I have to hand it to him for taking it with what appears to be a great degree of philosophy...but still. Like you said: bugger.

holy crap! no no no not that brain :( :( :(

It's, ironically, irony worth of Terry Pratchett. Of all the minds in the world, it has to pick one that brilliant?

Bugger indeed. (And now I'm welling up, too)

My first reaction was, to quote Jack O'Neill, "Oh, crap!" My mother died of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and it is a hideous way to go. I hate that his brain, as so many other great ones before him, is taking this path. I am going to go reread Good Omens, one of my favorite books of his--I like many of the Discworld series, but Good Omens is just great.
