pepper: Pepperpot (Pirate flag)
Avast, me hearties, I be afeared that the pirate fic I wanted to write has not materialised. I have words, but they be short of a compass or a map, damn their eyes.

*is too tired to talk like a pirate any more*

I love Yahoo's headlines. They're such nonsense. "Robbie Williams could be abducted by aliens and "come back as an ambassador for their race", an expert claims."

Some picspam.

I went to an open day / fair thingy at some nearby allotments several weeks ago, and it was amazing. I forgot I hadn't posted about it. I stroked a python, admired the prize marrows, listened to various singers, relaxed in a hammock (every fair should have a section in a tiny bit of woodland with some hammocks), saw some belly dancing, listened to various bands, and spent ages looking at various birds. I stroked this guy...

...VERY very carefully. He didn't take my arm off, which was nice.

This lady...

Photobucket

...was enormous - an Eagle Owl. She made a great deal of fuss until her handler gave her a mouse. But this girl...

Photobucket

...was my favourite. She looked so very pissed off. :) She's a Bengal Owl.

There was a definite hippy vibe to the place. They had some nice signposts scattered around one section:

And... that's about all I've got. See y'all at the Redial rewatch tonight.

What a wonderful collection of pretty birds. And the signs are quite lovely, too.

I am also thinking that you have much better handwriting on signs than I do.

Well, even I can barely read my normal scrawl - I make a big effort for signs. *g*

Arr (squeak!) to you to says Horatio Pirate Hamster ...

Those owls look familiar ... Was there a barn owl called Sybil? I think I met them as a Heathen Fest in Peterborough a couple of years ago.

Hmm - could be. There were names - but it's a few weeks since the fair, I can't remember them, to be honest. There was a cute little barn owl, though.

Arr! and avast! back to Horatio. :)

Wow, excellent pirate ship drawing! Also, the seagull on the skylight is cracking me up!

Gorgeous owls. A couple Christmases ago we pulled a tiny little owl out of my parents' fireplace (no fire ;) - it had got stuck in the chimney and made its way down to the fireplace doors. Full of ashes but otherwise seemed OK!

Catch you at the rewatch!

Heh, ta - I copied it from something, 'cause I can't draw ships, but it came out okay. The seagull stayed there for ages, too - it knew we couldn't get near it. :)

And, aw! Well done for rescuing the owl - poor little bugger. Heh.

See ya there! Oh, that reminds me, I should really go open the chatroom...

Not to barge in here or anything... but that totally sounds like something straight out of Harry Potter. I'm thinking of the Weasley's tiny little owl, here... XD

Ha! You're right! Um, Pidwigen, was it? Something like that. Silly little owl!

Alas, our little owl was not carrying my Hogwarts letter, boo.

Wonderful birds!

That Yahoo! bit on Robbie Williams is pretty hilarious.

I'm trying to decide what is the silliest aspect of that story. Robbie Williams has become seriously interested in aliens? Robbie Williams is considered in danger of being abducted by aliens, according to "experts"?

...No, I know what the silliest part is: Robbie Williams might be sent back to us as ambassador for an alien race. Exactly how desperate / lacking in judgement are these aliens? :D

A very Harry Potter feel to your pics! :)

You're drawings are excellent. Did you spend all day at work talking like a pirate? Cuz I'm sure that went over well. heh.

Heh, yes - I was going to say that the Eagle Owl reminded me of Harry's owl, except for the size - she had enough personality that she was kind of like whatever-the-owl-was-called.

Yahoo!News' headlines I can live with... the "news" on the other hand... *facepalm*

Beautiful signage. You draw very well. So... did everybody speak like a pirate?

And Eagle Owls are freakin' huge! Incidentally ('cause I can't see owls these days without thinking HP - damn you Rowling!), so are snowy owls. Big, big birds.

Ta! I love that sort of style of ink drawing - I'm trying to practice it at the moment. And, well, everyone tried to talk like a pirate - no one was very good at it. But it's funnier, that way. *g*

Yeah, at one point the handler was holding the Eagle Owl on his arm - he said she was much lighter than she looked. She'd have to be, to get airborne. *g*
