Based on the Stargate novels I've read so far (see list in the sidebar to the left), my personal recommendations for ones worth trying would be:
- Sacrifice Moon (SO good, and so far everyone has concurred on that)
- A Matter Of Honor / The Cost Of Honor (strong, well-written, exciting, resolves a plot from the show)
- Survival Of The Fittest (exciting, and has Siler in Simpsons pjs, and Hammond, Janet and Bra'tac playing major roles)
Sort-of recommend:
- Roswell (confusing and quite daft, and missing a portion that I'd like to have read - but still pretty exciting)
And, for cracky Sam/Jack fun:
- City Of The Gods (way to work those cliches!)
---
So. Trees. When does Jack say that he doesn't like trees? Does he say it more than once? Does anyone know?

Prisoners:
DANIEL: We practically just got here. We have no idea what this planet has to offer.
O'NEILL: Trees and moss.
[snipped additional dialogue]
O'NEILL: Ah! Ah! We'll, ah…flag it for an aerial survey. As much as I love a good rain forest…
Demons:
"Ah, trees, trees, and more trees. What a wonderfully green universe we live in, eh? Where's that village?"
Paradise Lost:
"I see trees, Harry. You get that in Colorado."
That's all I can recall offhand.
So, unless there's another one that you've not remembered, he doesn't even say he dislikes trees. He just implies that he's a little bored of seeing them all over the universe.
Oooh, I *love* that version. Beautiful!
Am using my Jack-in-the-woods icon just for you! ;)
I love that whole Chieftains album, but that's my particular favourite off of it. I sing it - badly - whilst doing the washing-up. :)
I've heard great things about #11. I've also heard there's an entire section where various Jaffa refer to Daniel as "the boy," which I absolutely despise. So I'm really interested to see what you'll say about it.
And word word (even wor'd) on Sacrifice Moon. Even if Daniel did get ribboned half a dozen times... :)
I shouldn't have reinvented the wheel. LOL
ETA after looking at canon v fanon entry: but at least I didn't miss any Jack mentions! Yay me! ;-) (yes, the little things amuse me.)
I have #11! I'll make that my next one.
Poor Daniel - it's amazing his brain still works, after all its been through.
(Also, note to myself to come back here for the song once I'm at home...)
Let me know what you think of the song (which you have to scroll down to find). I'm curious, because I'm biased towards Strawberry Switchblade - they were the first album I bought.
So dreamy and the harmony, and yeah, I'm pretty lost here.
