Things of niceness.

10 things that make me happy (gakked from [personal profile] aurora_novarum). A nice thing to do on a Friday.

1. RDA's acting in General Hospital. See the wonderful vid on [personal profile] surreallis's recent post. Dear lord but he was awful - and yet, still adorable. (See also Cold Lazarus for an object lesson in why practice is a Very Good Thing.)

2. Posts of glee. Go and add more glee!

3. Making my own tea blend, which I am definitely going to do soon. You see, there's a shop in Covent Garden where you can choose the tea types (lapsang, Assam, etc), add in other flavourings (rose petals, dried oranges, and the like), spritz it with a spray of orange oil, lemon oil, mint oil, etc - and then, you know, buy it, take it home, and make tea with it.

4. Tickets to and a room at Dragon*Con. (Now all I need to get are the flights...)

5. Vegetarian haggis for dinner tonight. Yes.

6. The warm, fuzzy feeling that someone, somewhere is saying nice things about me, when I get a sudden rash of 'Favorite Story' / 'Favorite Author' notifications from ff.net, out of the blue.

7. My Stargate mug, with colour-change Gate - so that when you fill it with hot water, the silhouettes of SG-1 disappear into the wormhole.

8. Glittery purple bracelets.

9. New String Theory!

10. Going to the British Museum at lunchtime. Aside from all the pretties, it's such a very nice space. The light in the Great Court is so comfortable on the eyes, and I love the stairs, broad and just the right height, stone worn soft from all the visitors. And it gave me an idea – see below.

Okay, my idea: I'd like to go to the British Museum more often, because it's just around the corner, plus I really ought to step away from my desk for my hour's lunchbreak, if I can. So I was thinking, to force encourage me to do this, I will offer my Stargate fic services.

Take a look at the museum's rooms here: Ground floor , Lower floor , Upper floor ...and pick a room number (or just choose a random number between 1 – 94). Comment with the number, and your preference of pairing or gen (bearing in mind that I've only watched half of season 1 of Atlantis, and haven't seen season 10 of SG-1). I will then go to that room, and write at least 100 words of fic based on something I see in there.

Whaddya think?

ETA: Okay, thank you! No more prompts for the moment, although I may reopen it for prompts again in the future. I'd love to have done a fic for every room in the whole museum, some day...

Ooh just found this ...
Big fan of the British Museum. Often go there and try to translate the hieroglyphs. Never get much done as I end up doing kids' homework ...

Could you do me a fiction. Pretty Pretty Please?

Room 33 - China, India, South Asia and Southeast Asia

Can you please use this (http://www.sxli.net/Pix/UK/London/BritMuseum/LdBritMuseum_1036.JPG/) as your inspiration. Its two Kwan Yins. I wrote this (http://quarryquest.livejournal.com/391915.html#cutid1/) about the curious link between Oma Desala and the Bodhisattva of Compassion.

If you can't find them in that room there are definitely a whole load in the Age of Englightenment exhibition in the Kings Library. They are next to a load of Egyptian stuff I have also had a bash at translating.

p.s. My imagination always provides me with a glowy Ascended Daniel (who then descends and turns up in his ascended!sweater) when I wander into the Great Court. We have had a number of interesting conversations when I have visited (and I wrote my first fic in the fandom set there too).

p.p.s. If you go there in your lunchtime we ought to meet up sometime and talk Stargate. I'm only up the road in Maida Vale ...

Re: Ooh just found this ...
No probs - and highly appropriate, Chinese New Year, and all that. :) I'll give the Kwan Yins a go, but do you mind awfully if I write about something else, if that inspires me instead? I'm trying to push myself to write a bit more to specific assignments (partly what this whole prompt thing is about), but I'm not quite there yet...

Heh, yes - I can completely see Daniel in the Great Court. Although one might get snow blind.

And, that might be nice, sometime.
