Arrested Development! Everybody Hates Chris is wonderful. Not as wonderful as Arrested Development, of course. Malcolm in the Middle (which I sometimes catch in syndication) is turning out to be a hell of a lot smarter than I ever gave it credit for. The New Adventures of Old Christine is, surprisingly, not bad, either.

I am really not a fan of sitcoms, but over here at least there's been a bit of a renaissance.

Is Arrested Development the one where the father of the family is being sent to prison for... something or other, and the wife and grown-up kids are falling apart in various ways? I've never caught that, but it seemed interesting from what I've heard.

Oh, also from your side of the Pond, Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's so painful, but so funny. I have to watch it from behind my hands.

Yeah, that's Arrested Development. It is brilliant beyond brilliant. It really defies description, though.

I have only seen Curb Your Enthusiasm once because I don't have cable, but it was very funny.

Oh! And Scrubs! Scrubs opened the door for some of the other good ones we've had. And back over your way, I adore The Vicar of Dibley, but that's only kind of sort of in the ten-year window.

Ah, I'll keep an eye out for it, then. Unfortunately, I think it's one of those things that doesn't get repeated much on British TV.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is well worth catching, if you can stand the pain. I have to leave the room sometimes. You're right; there do seem to be a lot of really good American comedies around at the moment.

Oh, if you ever see it around, Love Soup is excellent. It's a shortish comedy-drama series, about two people who are clearly absolutely perfect for one another, being the only sane voices in an insane world - and all the ways they narrowly miss ever meeting. It's just brilliant.

Malcolm in the Middle I used to watch (and like, at least the earlier stuff). Never caught any of the others, but I may have to try and find them. I like to while away a half hour infront of something funny every so often.
