Thank you all for your birthday wishes - when I get a bit more time, I'm going to go reply properly in people's lj's, but for now I just want to say thank you for the kind thoughts, and pics, and fic, and eeeee! I love you all! *hugs flist*

I had a very nice birthday, involving being bought lots of things (which is always good). And I now have an easel, which can take big (up to 1.5m) canvases - so perhaps I'll finally get off my ass and do some painting.

Oh, and I saw Wicked (musical about the untold story of the witches of Oz). Jack should so go and see it! And drag his team along! And then buy Sam a 'Defying Gravity' T-shirt! And she'd give him a Very Stern Look, but she'd wear it anyway - partly to see his reaction, and partly because she knows the song is also about pushing your limits, and flying, and doing amazing things that seemed to be impossible, and she'd know he meant it in a loving way, and not just as an excuse to stare at her chest.

I don't think I'll write the ficlet in my head, though, because it'd only make sense if you've seen the musical.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyhow. In other news, here's my

I've been humming Defying Gravity all bloody weekend. I loved that song! Unfortunately, I really can't sing - certainly not to Elphaba's standard, anyhow - so my poor, unfortunate boyfriend has had to be very tolerant. *g*

I'm really glad I got to go see it. I wanted to see it ever since I saw the posters, and before I knew what it was about. Now I need to read the book...

And apparently I can be disturbingly Stargate-centric. :) The Wizard of Oz connection jumped out at me (I don't remember ever having seen the original film, so my main association with it is Stargate). In the back of my mind a little voice kept going 'I wonder what Jack would think of this...'

Don't worry, you're not alone - I can hopelessly Stargate-centric as well. Just, at the time I saw Wicked I'd only been hooked on the show for a few weeks. That's probably why the connection didn't form then.

Between Defying Gravity, Popular, and especially What Is This Feeling?, I was completely hopeless for at least a month after seeing it. For your boyfriend's sake, I hope you're not nearly as bad at getting songs out of your head as I am!

Ah, he's doomed. I've got the soundtrack.
