Thank you all for your birthday wishes - when I get a bit more time, I'm going to go reply properly in people's lj's, but for now I just want to say thank you for the kind thoughts, and pics, and fic, and eeeee! I love you all! *hugs flist*

I had a very nice birthday, involving being bought lots of things (which is always good). And I now have an easel, which can take big (up to 1.5m) canvases - so perhaps I'll finally get off my ass and do some painting.

Oh, and I saw Wicked (musical about the untold story of the witches of Oz). Jack should so go and see it! And drag his team along! And then buy Sam a 'Defying Gravity' T-shirt! And she'd give him a Very Stern Look, but she'd wear it anyway - partly to see his reaction, and partly because she knows the song is also about pushing your limits, and flying, and doing amazing things that seemed to be impossible, and she'd know he meant it in a loving way, and not just as an excuse to stare at her chest.

I don't think I'll write the ficlet in my head, though, because it'd only make sense if you've seen the musical.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyhow. In other news, here's my

Happy (belated) birthday. I have been in Italy and am not properly combobulated yet - which is my excuse for not wishing you many happy returns earlier.

Yay for easelage. That sounds v. cool.

:D I actually haven't logged on since last Thursday, so I wouldn't have seen any earlier congrats... and, Thanks! I'm keeping it quiet at work for to avoid any "So how does it feel to be 30?"-type questions. Uh, pretty similar to 29, as a matter of fact. Funny, that.

Am very pleased with my easel. Also, it folds away nicely, so it's not at all obtrusive. I went and bought paints, too (and was patronised by the arty lady in the shop. "Those are student paints. These [extremely expensive ones] are proper artist's paints."). Eee! Is exciting.

It was nice. Not exciting, but pleasant. I drank champagne and had a good time. :)

Wicked is simply awesome!!! You're quite lucky to see it - it's so beautiful, and the music is so moving and catchy! I could keep rambling, but I won't. (I saw it with my choir in NYC... unfortunately, that meant one of the basses decided it would be a good idea to sing Defying Gravity in Elphaba's octave... yeah...)

That's a very interesting fic idea. Wonder why I never made the connection..?

Happy belated birthday as well. I hope you enjoyed your day off and celebrated however you like best ^_^

I've been humming Defying Gravity all bloody weekend. I loved that song! Unfortunately, I really can't sing - certainly not to Elphaba's standard, anyhow - so my poor, unfortunate boyfriend has had to be very tolerant. *g*

I'm really glad I got to go see it. I wanted to see it ever since I saw the posters, and before I knew what it was about. Now I need to read the book...

And apparently I can be disturbingly Stargate-centric. :) The Wizard of Oz connection jumped out at me (I don't remember ever having seen the original film, so my main association with it is Stargate). In the back of my mind a little voice kept going 'I wonder what Jack would think of this...'

*needs to get a life*

Don't worry, you're not alone - I can hopelessly Stargate-centric as well. Just, at the time I saw Wicked I'd only been hooked on the show for a few weeks. That's probably why the connection didn't form then.

Between Defying Gravity, Popular, and especially What Is This Feeling?, I was completely hopeless for at least a month after seeing it. For your boyfriend's sake, I hope you're not nearly as bad at getting songs out of your head as I am!

Aww! Honestly, I haven't looked at my lj since Thursday, so it's not important! I was too busy getting out there and having a life, for once. *g* And, thank you!

Hee - thank you. I really wasn't expecting everyone to send me greetings on the day - I'm not that self-important! Hope you're okay? Yeesh, two jobs...

Re: Woops...
Oh, ya...just incredibly busy. Pretty much the only time I'm not working is from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., lol. And about an hour of that is travel time from one job to the next. I find myself mostly tired.

BUT...this schedule is going to pay for my Bonaire trip, and the plane ticket...and the trip and flight to London in September, so I'll just deal with it :)

How're things going with you?

Re: Woops...
Horribly busy, also - although, fortunately, I don't have two jobs. I can't even imagine doing that. It would drive me loopy. But I have my animation course (for which I wish I had a lot more time, because it's so bloody good), and my friend's hen three-day-weekend (for which I really, really need to get on and do some phoning around), and... oh, stuff. Lots of stuff. Someone asked me today if I'd like to do some overtime, and I kind of laughed at them. :S

Looking forwards to seeing you in September. :)

(p.s. So what is your tattoo, then?)

I never said it wasn't driving me loopy ;)

For the tat, you can see pics at my homepage: http://dittdo.homestead.com/tattoos.html (http://dittdo.homestead.com/tattoos.html)

And ditto! I'm looking forward to that trip for a number of reasons, all good :)
