pepper: Pepperpot (Pepperpot)
I managed to make The Bread That Ate Manhattan this evening. I followed the recipe and everything. I think maybe I left it to rise too long. Still, it'll be lighter that way, which is probably a good thing for wholemeal walnut bread.

The recipe picture looks like this:

But the RL finished product looks like this - with, for comparison, my hand (did I ever tell you about the time I was a hand model? My life sounds so much more interesting in brief soundbites):

I should just look at it from the side. It looks relatively normal from the side:

A thinks I'm funny.

Mmm, walnut bread...

ETA: In case anyone's interested, the recipe. Is v. nice, but they're not kidding when they say "Makes 1 large loaf".

Mmmmm.... It is lovely. I think the recipe picture is all LIES. If it was that tiny, it would be dense somewhat like a neutron star.

LOL!!! I've made the odd neutron star in my time. Bread making is all about the feel of the dough.

Oh, yes, I've made that sort of bread, too. I'm just pleased this is edible - appearances are secondary in my cooking. :)

Shoot, I think it looks *very* edible.

If it weren't for the walnuts. :-) (Not a fan of walnuts... pecans would be good. ;-)
