Awards and... stuff

Yay, congratulations to everyone who won a Stargate Fan Award! Particularly those on my flist: [profile] 6beforelunch, [profile] abyssinia4077, [personal profile] aelfgyfu_mead, [profile] annerbhp, [personal profile] crazedturkey, [profile] kellifer_fic, [personal profile] moonshayde, [personal profile] paian, [personal profile] rowan_d, [personal profile] rydra_wong, [profile] sg_fignewton, and [personal profile] surreallis... holy buckets. I am practicing my gritted-teeth smile and dramatic flounce. ;) Srsly, in the company I was in, I didn't expect to win.

---

Now you should come and play on the latest [profile] redial_the_gaterecap, for Serpent's Song—an episode that was much more interesting than I remembered. Jack says "Sam?", and is all concerned for her (♥), Teal'c is ultra-menacing and cool and is just beginning to come into his own (the "That time is no more" bit? Ooooh), Janet is strong and ethical and bosses Teal'c around (*waves "Go Janet!" flag*), and for those of you of the Jack/Daniel persuasion, Jack and Daniel get hot and sweaty in the control room.

I can't believe we're nearly at the end of season 2 already. Yikes.

---

I'm enjoying Siren's Song so far, but I'm so not in the mood for another Daniel-centric story just now. Sigh. Perhaps I should stop reading it until I've distanced myself a bit from the last one.

---

Aelf, I watch the Willow Is Cute show yesterday. *g* She scared the crap out of Giles by appearing suddenly through a wall, whilst he was spending a relaxing evening card-indexing. It's funny to watch earlier episodes--I keep thinking how much she's going to change, and how completely self-confident she becomes, without the character essentially changing.

I love the Season 2 Halloween episode! Definitely one of my overall favorites for the entire series. So many good things from so many corners - Willow, Xander, Spike, Buffy, Cordelia... and Oz makes a few brief cameos!

Well spotted - I wondered if anyone would recognise it. :D

Oh, Oz - how I missed him when he went. It struck me that the previous time he'd seen Willow, she was dressed as an Eskimo (so he sees her comical side), and this time he saw her dressed to look smokin' hot (something Xander missed entirely), and the next time he finds out that she's super brainy (when they finally get to talk). All the stuff that most guys don't really notice or appreciate about her. *sigh*

Gah, I missed him too. Though Willow is perfectly capable of being cute with just about any other romantic attachment, I've always really liked Willow/Oz the best.

Oh man, the Eskimo costume is WIN!

Oh, oh, oh - you should read this, if you haven't already: http://kellifer-fic.livejournal.com/118942.html - it's absolutely the most adorable, wistful, heartbreaking Willow/Oz futurefic.

!!!!

No, I haven't read that but thanks for the rec! I'll definitely be fitting that in between studying and avoiding studying a la Dresden Files books.

A pointed out that winning an award is to lose all your street cred. *flounces some more, flicks hair*

:D

I've got out of the habit of watching the eps, which I decided was a Bad Thing for a mod. Oh, you're a mod for trustno1_redux now, aren't you? Yay you! I must get season 2 of that so I can grab a recap. It came around so fast.

OMG yes. It's like, totally selling out to the Man to win an award.

*gives hair an experimental flick*

I am a mod! I'm doing a great job so far in that I've posted a...comment. Sheesh. I have not had time.

Yes! John Lennon sent his MBE back, you know. And David Bowie declined a CBE and a knighthood.

*g*

I need a Dramatic Flounce icon, I feel.

The only problem with all this flouncing is that while we're having fun, people might get the idea that we are actually jealous.

Hmmm...well, I guess I am a little jealous. So maybe that's okay.

Whoa! Thanks to you and Redbyrd for posting about this, because I wouldn't have known otherwise.

And I'm kinda shocked. No, a lot shocked. :)

::gloats over our ultra-cool flists::

And yes, I second the motion - go read the great snarky recap over at Redial!

I'm not so shocked. ;) It's a lovely fic.

I'm so pleased by how many people on my flist got an award. It confirms what I already thought about them. :D

*prods people into going to Redial* Dammit, I watched the ep this time, after a couple of weeks of neglecting it - I want to chaaaaaaaat about it! /whine

Hee :) You do have the best flist ever.

And YAY to the Willow is Cute show! Buffy brings back memories. I was in high school just when the Buffy characters were in high school and man did Willow make me feel like it was okay to be the shy geeky girl.

My flist rocks. It is evident. *nods*

Ah, I so identified with Willow (except with the whole turning-into-a-dark-and-super-powerful-witch bit, of course). I never watched it when it was actually on - I didn't get into the show until it had pretty much finished, which is... fairly typical, come to think of it. I'm rewatching it at the moment, 'cause I've just got them all on DVD.

So I'll be rewatching that, Stargate, X-Files... I have a full schedule here. :D

I like your flist :)

Hee :) My dad somehow got into Buffy in season one or two and convinced my mom and I to start watching. It always cracks me up that I got hooked on it through my father.
(I picked up seasons 1 and 2 on dvd a while ago and he got REALLY excited. EEEE!)

Yay to your full schedule. Sounds good to me.

*perks up* Siren Song is Daniel-centric?

Heh. Sorry. Guess I'm pretty obvious when it comes to where my interests lie. *g* Have you read the older, pre-Fandimonium Stargate books? Those are all supposed to be very Jack-centric, but I haven't read them myself so I can't say for sure.

I've not read them, no. Maybe I should try to track them down.

And, to be precise, Siren Song isn't entiiiiirely Daniel-centric - it's about as much as Barque of Heaven was, so far. It's just that it's mainly Jack and Daniel doing stuff, and Sam and Teal'c doing other stuff, elsewhere - and I'm not feeling in the mood to read that. Which is my bias, obviously. *g*

Hee hee! Maybe I will go back and give Buffy another try in my spare time. It seemed like every time I turned it on there was adolescent angst, and it was too much like going to my office and hearing why students' work wasn't going well. Some of them had bad reasons and some of them had really good reasons, but I didn't need it for my entertainment as well as at work!

I don't know whether I should be glad or disappointed that none of them ever listed "vampire slaying" or "saving the Earth/universe" among the reasons they needed an extension or a make-up.

Oh, there is a lot of adolescent angst. But there's a lot of humour, too, and awareness of being adolescently angsty, which is why I like it. And the book geekery. That's fun, too.

...I can feel myself slipping back into the Buffy speech patterns again...

Ah Buffy, how I loved it.

I was always much more into ANgel though, strangely enough. Not sure why. Possibly because I was a bit older and Angel was exploring more issues I care about? who knew?

(and to the other thing...say what? I WON? YOu're pulling my leg!!!)

I never seemed to get into Angel. I keep meaning to watch it properly, though, someday. I have seen the episode with the puppets, though. Hee! *loves*
