Well, I kind of care, I guess. All season long the SGC has been in a race with Anubis to find anything Ancient/the Lost City. So, you have to assume that they're under fire from Anubus' jaffa, that it's not just any old jaffa attack. In a way, that background info - that SG-13's mission was strategically important - made Janet's sacrifice a little easier to take. Does that make any sense?

Yes, snarky!Dixon is most definitely canon. He has that whole, hilarious monologue on the joys of having children, and he makes that crack about Daniel dying "again". And when SG-1 shows up to the fight, he's all "Hi Jack! Thanks for coming!" HA! I really wish - when they decided that they needed a fourth for SG-1 in Season 9 - that they'd asked Adam Baldwin back.
