I am, in fact, calming up.

Yes! Oh, yes! *squee*

No, I'm not squeeing about that Sam/Jack thing*. I am squeeing because Big Bang Theory is coming to UK TV! Woohoo!

This will probably only matter to those of you who are a) in the UK, b) Stargate fans, and c) reading the

[profile] jack_built AU, which is narrowing down the field quite considerably - but what the heck, I'm happy. A was bemused by how I sat up and squeaked when I saw the advert for it, yesterday. And it really doesn't come across well in explanation. Really, really doesn't. :)

Two quotes left from the movie meme yesterday:

9. "EDWARD TEACH, sometimes known as Captain Blackbeard, when you come to die, may your body and soul be racked between this world and the next, always to be alone! May this curse hold fast and true, may you be held forevermore in limbo, until such time as there be found in you, most wicked of all villains -- some spark of human goodness! Well, good night, Mr. Walker. Sleep well! The dining room will be open for breakfast at 7:30 AM. Please be prompt." Blackbeard's Ghost, guessed by [profile] annienau08.
Disney live-action movie from the 60s.

12. "I never dreamed that any mere physical experience could be so stimulating!"  The African Queen, guessed by [profile] vickyocean.
Get your minds out of the gutter! The lady is talking about sailing through whitewater rapids.

And LeapGate is now open for your commentfics. Get your prompts here, and post fic here. Abyssis, we luvz u!

* Well, okay, I am squeeing because of the Sam/Jack thing - but not right at this moment. Well, just a little bit. *squee!*. And it's going to be a DVD extra! *SQUEE!*

Really? Is it going to be re-made for the UK? Or will it be the American version? This bodes well for our version! Maybe it's doing well!

It's the American version. I was really surprised, because I wouldn't have thought it'd be one of those things that comes over here - but it had a big ad on one of the main channels and everything.

I keep wondering if jack_built has anything to do with its success. *g*

I just saw on TV Guide they will start filming at least nine new episodes to start airing mid March.

Whee!

And, see, it's sort of the best of both worlds, because it's not actually been included in the show. So non-S/J people are completely free to disregard it as canon. :)

Yep, that's just what I was commenting elsewhere. You guys get your squee, no-one else's squee is interfered with -- it's cool all round.

Oh, good - because I can't help but squee about it. :) I can sympathise with the people who're finding this a bit cramping for their stories, though - it would probably have that effect on me, too. I guess this gets added to the list of things they have to handwave, because TPTB have rather pushed S/J on occasion.

Well, there's the classic "it wasn't shown so it's not canon" option, the "Sam/Paul Davis OTP!!!" handwave, the "she just didn't want to shock Keller by mentioning that it's an OT3 with Daniel" handwave -- plenty of room ...

As a card-carrying multi-shipping whore, I realize I'm probably not the best person to comment on how it affects people who are very invested in Jack/Daniel (or, for that matter, Sam/Daniel, or whoever), but it strikes me that people have faced tougher handwaving challenges before *g*.

Ooh! I LIKE that one. Although I would have to make it OT4 because I feel bad when Teal'c gets left out of the love.

Teal'c is busy having sex with Cameron and Vala. Obviously. *g*

(There's always the OT6 option, but at that point I think they have to special-order bigger beds and start drawing diagrams of where all the arms and legs go.)
[identity profile] annienau08.livejournal.com wrote:

Obviously! What was I thinking? :)

(That's always been my problem with the OT6 option, although I'm sure Sam would be happy to calculate all the necessary angles and measurements if they asked. And if it got too complicated, Teal'c would just start grabbing people and positioning them the way he wanted. Because who's going to stop him?)

Also, yay for finding someone else who feels bad when Teal'c is left out!

I mean, I can see why it happens sometimes (he's too reserved, or less needy, or less tangled up in the weird UST, or staying well clear of the crazy Tau'ri and their issues, or whatever) but I get a little sad when I read the umpteenth story where the others are making with the hot OT3 love and Teal'c is ... on Chulak. Or dead. Or just generally somewhere else.

Oh, my love for Teal'c knows no bounds. I don't understand why so few people write fics about him because 90% of my plot bunnies revolve around him.

And I agree with you that sometimes him not being part of the dynamic makes sense - especially if it's during seasons 7 and 8 when he's with Ishta. But yeah, too many people just ignore him completely or throw in one line banishing him to oblivion because they don't want to deal with him. Silly rabbits.

*nods fervently*

In case you're interested, I did a postful of Teal'c fic recs a while back (and people added their own recs in the comments). There's not nearly as much Teal'c fic as there ought to be, but there are some real gems.

Yay, I was first! Although I do apologise for opening it with a Sam/Mac story. Really. Abjectly.

Hey, maybe my feeling of guilt will make me write a Sam/Daniel story! ;) Ahem, after I've finished this second Sam/Mac story I've already nearly written, that is...

Why apologize? Each prompt is equally as good as the others! I was excited to wake up to fic!

Though, um, if the guilt gets you to write Sam/Daniel, I will NOT be complaining. At all. *uses icon for incentive*

Ah well, you know... it's a Stargate thing, and... Okay, I won't feel guilty. :)

Incidentally, on the Sam and Daniel prompts, is that meant to read "conversation hearts", or is there a missing comma?

And you included Sam and it was a valid prompt. all good.

No, that's how it was listed. I think they mean those sweet tasteless hearts that come out at valentines day and have words on them...if you have those on your side of the pond

#12 African Queen

I couldn't get into The Big Bang Theory like I could [livejournal.com profile] jack_built. I find it tough to get into sitcoms like I used to. The characters in sitcoms are pretty static and I really enjoy character evolution. There's new series on now called The Captain or something like that about all the denizens of an apartment building. You can imagine my first thought.

I had a feeling you might know that film. :)

I don't know that I'll continue to watch Big Bang Theory (I'm not very good with scheduled programmes - I like to watch things when I want to watch them), but I just have to have a look.

And, heh - maybe there could be a jack_built AU called 'The Colonel'...

I am seriously looking forward to S4 of Atlantis, now (well, even more than I was already, which was a lot, because Sam). I don't actually know what this big Sam/Jack thing is and how it relates to Sam, McKay and Keller being stuck in a hole (since that's the sum total of my knowledge about "Trio") but I am prepared to squee the minute I see it for myself. And then find a way to show it to my sister, who is thirty times the Sam/Jack shipper that I am.

Ah, well - it's a scene that was cut (it's not spoilering you to tell you that, I hope?). So it won't be there, as such (except as a DVD extra)... but it's still squee-worthy. :)

Well, I don't watch Big Bang Theory, but if it inspires more [livejournal.com profile] jack_built fic then I will squee with you.

Of course, I'm already squeeing with you because of the Sam/Jack thing, but that's beside the point.

As for number 10, wasn't there a movie called "Blackbeard's Ghost" or something along those lines? Or am I just making that up?
