This would be my life, then.

Hello all, merry Christmas! I've had a peaceful day, watching Doctor Who (he's so pretty in those glasses), and eating vegetarian turkey (yes, yes, I know it's revolting to meat eaters and the majority of vegetarians alike - me and A like it), and drinking Champagne and freshly-squeezed clementine juice. Mmm.

I've also had an incident that is hugely typical of me. Midnight last night, A and I exchanged one present (most we exchange after breakfast on Christmas day, but we allow ourselves one in advance), and I was given a beautiful green crystal pendant necklace. I was very thrilled, and went to bed holding it (sappy, I know). Woke up this morning, and couldn't find it. Anywhere. I've searched, and searched... all day, I've looked. I've taken the bed apart, shaken out all the bedclothes... I haven't actually left the house since I got it, so there's only so far it can have gone. But it's nowhere to be found.

Current theory is that I ate it. In my sleep.

*headdesk*

It's had me and A in hysterics on and off for most of today. I'm really REALLY hoping it turns up in some corner of the room somewhere soon, though.

So, hope you're all having a peaceful holiday, and don't eat your presents unless they're edible!

I certainly hope you find it!

I lost my engagement ring. I can't type well with my rings on, and they catch on things, so I frequently put them in a jewelry box. One Monday morning, I could find the wedding ring, but the engagement ring was gone. I had to go off to teach without it. I was heartbroken. I felt dreadful. I felt guilty. Even my students noticed. BH was going to replace it on our anniversary.

Six weeks after I lost it, but before our anniversary, the ring turned up in a dresser drawer, with a pair of shorts I hadn't worn in months. There's no way it got there by itself. The only question is which cat was responsible, and how it got from the box (which I must not have closed properly) into the drawer with the shorts.

So my points (I have points!) are: if you have a pet, the pendant may have been dragged, maybe someplace totally improbable (maybe even impossible). Even if you don't have a pet, things do turn up! (Do check all your trash; I've found things there, too.) If you ate it, it will turn up, too, but it probably would have made its presence known in some way already. :-)

Hope you find it soon!

Oh wow - I'm glad you found it again, that would be awful.

Sadly, I don't have a pet to blame it on. And, as I lost it whilst I was asleep (I noticed it was missing as soon as I woke up), it just can't have gone far... I have checked the trash, though. My next move might be to vacuum with a stocking over the end of the vacuum cleaner.

A has offered to buy me the matching earrings, though... for dessert. *g*

Doh! Is it bad I want to say that I hope everything comes out okay? :)

It sounds beautiful - hope it turns out somewhere. Maybe it's REALLY tangled in the sheets or your pajamas or the pilowcase or, um, I know! Maybe it was actually a secret Ancient device that was the key to life, the universe and everything and Daniel wanted it Really Bad so he convinced Jack to have Thor beam him into your bedroom in the middle of the night so Jack snuck in and slipped it out of your fingers but he'll return it in a few days...

Regardless, glad you guys can laugh about it and that your holidays were good.

:) I'm just glad A isn't mortally offended that I ate his present. I've looked eeeeeeverywhere, CSI-style. Mostly it's still amusing me, although I am pretty peeved, too. I don't quite believe that I ate it, really. Why would I do that? Surely I'd notice? Surely I'd choke? The mind boggles.

I like your theory much better. I wish he'd left a note, though. :D

Yeah, definitely good you guys can see the humor. And it *can't* have gone far so I'm sure it'll turn up. And, yeah, the eating isn't terribly likely (though you never know...did you have crazy dreams about being really hungry?)

He didn't leave a note because Thor beamed him up to quick. But he's planning to wake you up to apologize when he brings it back.

Heh. And, you know, it could be an Ancient thingy - it was all little crystals, and they do like their crystal technology...

Bah. I want it baaaaaaack! I keep going in and turning the room upside-down, in the hopes that it'll have somehow reappeared.

See, crystals are the answer to everything (speaking of, have you tried magnets? :) )

I don't blame you. Watch it turn up the second you give up and stop looking for it...

Yeah, the only trouble is, I hate an unsolved puzzle, so I'm not going to stop looking for quite a while...

Heh, magnets may be the answer!

I'm just going to add to the chorus of "things turn up" here. :-)

I hope you find it soon, and lucky you if Jack turns up in your bedroom to return it!

Well, lucky me, but I don't think A would feel the same. *g*

I'm going to go look, just one more time... So what that it's 4am, I don't have to get up tomorrow...

Oh, fidelity. You mean so little to fantasy, and so much in real life.

I didn't see this until after I'd already seen your post about your mom using her awesome mind powers to find it, but I just had to say: I love the fact that my friendslist this morning involves a post saying "Merry Christmas, and don't eat your presents!" *laughs*

Hee! Well, I thought it would amuse people. And the way you read it, you knew it had a happy ending.

And it's good advice! For, you know, me and small children. :D
