So, 738 words in on NaNo, not too bad for a lunchtime's work (I didn't start at midnight, despite the temptation – I need my sleep!). Lots of scene-setting. Generally, I don't bother with scene-setting, because in fanfic it's not so necessary – we already know who the people are, where they work, etc. It feels quite luxurious to be stretching out and occupying a page in this way.

More words this evening, so I'm pretty confident I'll hit my 1,700-words-per-day target – er, for the first day, anyhow. Really, that's not many words (she says, hopefully). I write more than that in a day, on a semi-regular basis. Not on one story, though. Time will tell if I can stay focused.

I'm hoping I'll actually have some semblance of a normal lj life, too, as I can't really write my story at work, but I can make and read posts – less concentration required. And I'm thinking of taking some time off in late November. I'm due some holiday, anyhow, and it's not like I have any other plans.

Yes, I am enthused right now – can you tell? I hear week 2 will be bad, though. *g*

I went to bed and napped and got up at 11:55pm, wrote for a couple hours. I got 1,400 +/- in. Should easily be able to add that much more this evening if I don't collapse from exhaustion. And tomorrow's my 9/80 Friday off, so I'll have some time then.

Still haven't decided when I'm heading south to Burbank, whether on Saturday or veryveryvery early Sunday, to see Ben B. at the Creation Farscape con on Sunday.

Ah, yes, sensible way to do it, have a catnap first and then write from midnight. I can't do that, though - whenever I try to catnap, it always ends up as going-to-bed-really-early. I'm not so good at getting up. Still, I usually feel great the next day. :D

Heehee, I like your icon. I need to make myself a... NO. Must not distract myself with thoughts of footling around with icons. That sort of thing somehow takes up hours of my time. Must WRITE!

There's a nano icons community; just go to your profile page and search by interest NaNo, and it comes up near the top of the list. I found several I'm going to use.

:D
