So, 738 words in on NaNo, not too bad for a lunchtime's work (I didn't start at midnight, despite the temptation – I need my sleep!). Lots of scene-setting. Generally, I don't bother with scene-setting, because in fanfic it's not so necessary – we already know who the people are, where they work, etc. It feels quite luxurious to be stretching out and occupying a page in this way.
More words this evening, so I'm pretty confident I'll hit my 1,700-words-per-day target – er, for the first day, anyhow. Really, that's not many words (she says, hopefully). I write more than that in a day, on a semi-regular basis. Not on one story, though. Time will tell if I can stay focused.
I'm hoping I'll actually have some semblance of a normal lj life, too, as I can't really write my story at work, but I can make and read posts – less concentration required. And I'm thinking of taking some time off in late November. I'm due some holiday, anyhow, and it's not like I have any other plans.
Yes, I am enthused right now – can you tell? I hear week 2 will be bad, though. *g*

Besides, I worked it out: I type approx. 55 - 60 wpm. So that's about half an hour every day to write my wordcount (yeah, right). By that counting, I could write the requisite 50,000 words in about 15 hours. (Unless my maths is screwy, which is entirely possible.)
Okay, that's so not going to happen, and if I tried my fingers would fall off, but it's much less daunting when I put it like that. *g*
