You know those days when you get into work, and immediately you need to polish off an excel document, and organise three meeting rooms, and a laptop, two projectors, and some catering, and print out a series of documents for two different meetings, and send out the minutes, and then go to a meeting, and that drags on, and halfway through you have to duck out for a moment to reorganise another meeting, and then the first meeting you're in overruns, so you have to run around in the 15 minutes between that and your next meeting collecting the laptop and projector, and travelling with people in the lift so you can get a moment to talk to them, and then being late for the second meeting, which then overruns by 25 minutes into the third meeting for which you need to be there to do the set-up, and there's 20 people waiting for you, and then you get that sorted, and get back to your desk, and someone tells you your voicemail isn't working, and someone else tells you they need a luncheon voucher right now, and can you make sure those interview packs have been sent out to everyone so they get a chance to review them beforehand, and someone else wants to rearrange their 1-1…
*sporks self in eye, which has developed a novelty twitch, much like Scrat from Ice Age*
It's not hard work - it's just the 'all at the same time' thing that gets me down.
Screw it. Oxford Street is just around the corner. I'm going to go buy myself something. If anyone wants me in the next half hour, hard luck – no one at work knows my mobile number.

ETA: I'm now the owner of Stargate Atlantis season 1, and a more serene outlook on life.

It's calmed down now. It's mostly not that mad (although it's pretty non-stop) - I was just having one of those mornings where everything that could be needed, was needed. And I kept being in meetings with people who'd say, "Well, that's it, I think. Oh, there's just one more thing...", and then keep talking for twenty minutes.
I was hoping the eye-twitch would intimidate people into thinking I was about to go psycho killer, and so they'd wrap it up quickly, but no such joy.
*Gazes at overflowing in-tray*
Me and filing processes are not friends.
YAY SGA S1!!!! Sounds like a prime way to develop that more serene outlook.
Oh, and all the other stuff too, I guess. Atlantis and all that. *g*
*thinks happy thoughts*
But you get Hammond for an episode! And Sam for about 10 seconds!
Yay happy thoughts!
(You only have two eyes, you know!)
*hugs*
Aw, thank you for the hugs, though - much appreciated. :)
(Also, aren't eye-twitches the worst? Drives me insane. I have heard that it does have something to do with stress and lack of sleep, too. I had one last spring that lasted for more than a week. Ugh.)
And I think this eye twitch started up 'cause I was sneezing. If it lasts a week I will be seriously considering sporking out my eye.
Yes. I know how this feels.
*hugs*
And whoo, sounds like your day has been a doozy. Hope it slows down to a more reasonable pace.
Yes, just what I needed, a big Teal'c hug. :)
Yay SGA season 1! Rodney goodness!
*glees*
(And ta for hugs!)
Meetings... also the bane of my life :D
But John Sheppard is indeed a balm for the soul (oh yes!)
*more hugs*
Meetings suck. Someday I really am going to go psycho when someone says, "Oh, there's just one more thing..." Noooo!!! No more things!!!! *beats them to death with projector*
Hee, but John Sheppard, yes. I love the little smug look at, "I shot him. Only in the leg!"
