Oh-ho-ho-ho yes, it's that meme again. This time, I'm going to be more restrained. I will give questions if anyone wants 'em. These ones kindly posed to me by [profile] 6beforelunch:

1. What's your favorite thing about the Sam/Jack 'ship?
Okay, if I'm honest, it's the forbidden love thing. UST gets me every time. I know it's an obvious trick, used time and again in television, but oh, I fall for it every time. And the moment they finally realise they both Care About Each Other A Lot More Than They're Supposed To, they're stuck either side of a force shield, and she's about to die. *le sigh* And, after that, they still can't be together without giving up the careers they love, or breaking the rules to which they're committed. I'm a complete sucker for that sort of thing.

2. What first drew you to Stargate?
The fandom, actually. I heard about the show through a crossover fanfic from another show, set in the Stargate universe, and did some research online, because I didn't understand what was going on. I wanted to know who all these people were, why all the acronyms and apostrophes, what the deal was with the "Gate", why it seemed to be set in our time, as far as I could tell, and yet there was travel to other planets... and somehow the army was involved...? :-) I think it reminded me of the X-Files – I've always had a fondness for shows that set the fantastical in the here-and-now.

3. Name one website (besides LJ) that you visit regularly.
Hm. *checks bookmarks* Leaving out the ones everyone visits regularly (Google, Wikipedia, IMDb...), I go to stock.xchange quite a lot – it's a photography community, where people can upload their own photos, and find ones by other people, to use free of charge so long as it's non-commercial. Quality can vary, but mostly the photos are really good. It's a place to find the everyday beauty of the world.

4. What book could you read over and over and never get tired of?
Well, Jane Eyre or Lord Of The Rings. Anything with less words and scope, I'd eventually get bored of, no matter how much I love it. So if I was stuck on the traditional desert island, it would probably have to be... LoTR. There's just so much of it. By the time you get to the end, you've forgotten the beginning. And I've still not read all the appendices, despite having read the book itself several times.

5. Reality TV: good or evil?
Evil. So, so evil. And not only evil, but loud and – most unforgivably - boring. Why does anyone want to watch people sitting around picking their toenails 24-7, talking about OMG Chantal is so totally a beeyatch 'cause she spent like half an hour in the bathroom this morning when she knows I wanted to shower? It's BORING. Any feeble excuse about social experiments has long since died, in my opinion. It's a talent-free zone, feeding fame to morons, and pandering to the idea of lowest-common-denominator programming. If TV executives had any integrity they'd try to make something with a grain of intelligence, and challenge their audiences, and not just cheap and attention-grabbing shows that have as much depth and reality as the poem in a Hallmark card.

I'm not a fan – can you tell?

Just for the record, these were the questions I answered last time around (and yes, I was a tiny little bit manic at the time):

---

Btw, if you're wondering (the 95% of you who were interested, anyhow), I'm going to post the comedy thing on Monday. I've not yet finished it, and don't want to post it over the weekend.

That's an awesome website to have bookmarked, especially since Getty went and started suing people for using their low-res images on non-commercial websites. *sigh*

And...oh, why not, I'll take some questions. *g*

Getty have done that? Bastards! I hadn't heard. But then again, I do see their pictures around a lot (I once worked for an ad agency, and did a fair few picture searches, so I came to kind of recognise Getty stuff when I saw it), so I guess I can sort of see why they might start clamping down... but still, the low-res stuff on non-commercial, that's heavy-handed. stock.xchange is fabulous. Some talented amateurs are, y'know, really talented.

Questions... *skims back through your lj*

1. How's the Spanish going?
2. What's your favourite moment with Jack and Daniel?
3. Marilyn Monroe – like or dislike?
4. What made you choose the elephant joke fic?
5. Do you think you'd ever go back to eating meat?

I don't know if they're still on their crusade, but maybe six months back a friend told me to make sure that I take down any Gertty images I might have up on my website, even if they were part of a blend of images because people were getting slapped with having to pay up to $1000. I can understand coming down on commercial sites, but it seems silly to go after fans and other non-commercial organizations.

Then again, I never heard anything else about it, so maybe it was just rumor.

Eesh. Still, they have to find you first. :) But yeah, not worth taking the risk, sometimes.

Oh, Reality tv is *so* evil. I've been around so many people who are addicted so I catch bits and think "why on earth are you watching this?"
bleh

Though, I've discovered - I don't have the sense of humor that finds humor in making fun of people/thinking others are stupid/being mean and sometimes I think certain reality shows cater to that sense of humor and the people I know who like those shows have that type of humor so....*shrugs*

I'll take questions from you!

You might be right about the humour thing. I just... I don't find those shows funny, I find them depressing, if anything. And that'd be okay if they weren't so uninteresting, too. It's like being at school - people being shocked at things because they've no concept of there being any bigger issues in life than if Chantal is secretly snogging Darren behind the bikesheds ZOMG!!!11!1! But I know a lot of people find it entertaining, so... I dunno, it's like watching monkeys in the zoo. Alright for about five minutes, and then I'm bored.

Actually, that's a terrible analogy. I love watching monkeys. :)

Qs...

1. What is it you love about Sam/Daniel?
2. On your interests list, you have 'oz' – is that as in Buffy, or as in Wizard of, and what do you like about him/it?
3. (Ignorant science question) I know you're a scientist, but what's your speciality? (I'm guessing it's to do with environment, or some such, just from things you've mentioned.)
4. What would you sing, if someone forced you (at gunpoint, if necessary *g*) to do karaoke?
5. If you met one of SG-1, what would you want to ask him/her? And would you dare to ask it?

I'll have you know I can spend *hours* watching the monkeys at the zoo...however, I'm not sure I've made it through a reality show episode from start to finish.

yay questions!

Can I play? :-)

And, yes, it's the OMG angsty forbidden love. *is sucker for that as well*

Reality TV *is* boring. Shows like Survivor or The Mole--they at least have some sort of objective that makes sense, although I only watched about half a season of Survivor, total, and one season of The Mole. But Big Brother? The Bachelor/Bachelorette? Ugh. Skip.

I try them, every now and again, because I figure everyone else is watching them, so what am I missing? Only to discover yet again that, no, I'm not missing anything. It's mainly the noise of them that I hate, actually. I like my peace and quiet. Everyone's so screechy, and they won't. shut. up.

Questions (damn, I love this meme)...

1. Ewoks, love or loathe?
2. What do you recommend for a hangover?
3. What would you ask RDA if you met him (and managed not to faint *g*)?
4. What would you WANT to ask him but not dare?
5. What's your favourite song at the moment?

Wow. I love every single thing you just said on #5. Because seriously. Although I think the celebrity-obsession meets reality-tv phenomenon that we get in, you know..."lets make a show about Nick and Aaron Carter doing nothing! Hulk Hogan yelling at his kids to clean up their room!" is the lowest of the low even within the genre. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

And I'll have some questions...I've never done the interview meme before!

Reality TV hits my ranty buttons. I can't stand it, and I can't understand why it keeps being made. Well, no, actually I can understand: it's cheap. Actually putting effort into a programme costs money. Why pay actors, directors, writers, etc, when you can follow a bunch of moronic plebs or a so-called celebrity around with a camera for a few months, and get hours of footage? Grr. ...Yeah, not a fan. *g* (I can just about stand the Osbournes - in limited doses - though, because man, Ozzy is strange. But the rest? NO.)

The interview meme is lovely but addictive. I requested a ridiculous number of questions, last time, and then went on to discuss the answers in comments, and discuss other people's answers to my questions... I'm going to resist asking for questions back, this time - I swear.

1. What's your favourite Jack/Daniel scene?
2. Why is Han Solo so much hotter than Indy, then? (See, I do read your lj!)
3. Who's your favourite Muppet?
4. If you could have one person send you a letter to tell you they liked your writing, who would it be?
5. What should Cam's stick figure art gimmick be? (*g*)

1. In Martha's shoes, would you go with the Doctor?
2. Which do you prefer, Simpsons or Futurama?
3. Would you want them to finally declare whether or not Sam and Jack are together now, or do you prefer being able to make up your own mind?
4. If you only had the primary colours (i.e. red, blue, and yellow) to choose from, what colour would you paint your house?
5. Who might you have been in a past life?

2. Now you've got Art and Science covered, is there anything else you'd like to study?
3. What do you think alien life will be like, if we ever really find it?
4. Have computers made your life more paper-free?

:S

I tend to flick the channels while I'm cooking dinner and somehow it always gets stuck on the Big Brother channel. I can't help myself! *is ashamed*

Now, if it was the Big Brother with the Doctor in it...now THAT would be a different story ;)

Can I have some questions? :D

Aw, I know they're compelling, I have lots of friends who watch 'em - I just find the annoyance factor outweighs the 'what the heck are they doing? Is he really...? Did she actually...?' factor, for me. *g*

1. Do you have a sweet tooth?
2. What kind of Doctor's companion would you be?
3. Who might you have been in a past life?
4. Given the choice of only these, would you prefer to live in arctic tundra or desert wastelands?
5. Eggs – boiled, fried, scrambled, poached, or no-eggs-whatsoever-thanks-very-much?
