pepper: Pepperpot (Wake Me When It's Over)
Why do my nightmares always involve long, complicated, exotic forms of death? My brain is warped. I get chased by marauding zombies that I have to throw Lego at, or bombed by kamikaze exploding zeppelins, or hunted by a (to quote nanda) freakin' mermaid. (The mermaid was sent by King Neptune – not the Little Mermaid King Neptune, but a despotic, vengeful god of the sea, who wanted me dead. Deader than dead.)

Last night's was a doozie. To start, there were the bears. I dreamed I was in a hospital full of hundreds of bears. Not friendly teddybear-type bears, but big, scary, 'WHO'S BEEN EATING MY PORRIDGE? I WILL RIP YOUR HEAD OFF PUNY HUMAN!!!' bears. (I don't remember being traumatised by Goldilocks...)

There was a lot of running around corridors, trying to stay hidden, and then I found a group of people in a safe area (some kind of elevator / button / steel door system to get in, too complex for the bears). That was quite cool – we went out on a couple of brief rescue missions, gathered a whole bunch of survivors together, and we made a break for it on a train (I dunno what the train was doing there).

But when we got out, no one was there helping to contain the hospital full of bears. I soon realised why: there was an erupting volcano. Yay! Fate has it in for me. If the bears don't get me, Firey Lava Death will.

Cue driving (in those big, shiny black SUVs that the authorities in disaster movies always drive), fleeing, etc, around lots of redbrick streets. I wanted to drive up, figuring, y'know, lava flows downhill... unfortunately, the hill I chose to drive up turned out to be the hill the lava was flowing down, so it was coming towards me faster. Eep.

Screech of tyres, turn around, realise I can do something with wiring that will help to stop the lava (something to do with a giant air conditioner...), I made the driver stop despite approaching Firey Lava Death (apparently I think of myself as heroic and self-sacrificing), twisted a few wires together... Cut to Far Away, giant air conditioner kicks in... but not in time to save me. Flee in SUV again. Stop at crossroads – lava at all possible turns. I spend last few seconds wondering if I'll pass out / die from the fumes first, or if I'll be conscious when my clothes catch on fire and my bones begin to melt, and if closing my eyes will make any difference, or if the heat will fry the eyelids, and –

- I wake up. Eesh.

I'd thrown the cover off and my back was cold – this invariably causes me to have nightmares. Plus last night I nearly put my hand on the biggest spider I'd ever met (I actually screamed – and that's very unlike me), and then I was writing about house fires just before I went to bed (d'oh). And obviously I should never have watched 'Volcano'. Okay, I didn't watch it recently, but apparently it stuck in my brain. Disaster movies do that to me – I can't watch them.

Bah at bad dreams.

edit: Oh, gakked from several people, most recently [personal profile] crazedturkey:

you are lavenderblush
#FFF0F5

Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Well, the colour is hideous, but... I have to admit, that sounds somewhat like me. Am I paranoid in seeing an subtext of 'you're really quite irritating'? *g*

I have very involved dreams. They sometimes have whole plotlines. Usually nonsensical plotlines, but nevertheless entertaining. :) And I tend to believe that nightmares mean 'I've thrown the covers off again'. Or 'I've been eating too much cheese and watched some of 12 Monkeys just before bed'.

I don't like my colour. Bleh. Pale pink is not for me. Can we swap? I quite like teal. *g*
