pepper: Pepperpot (Easily Amoosed)
Moebius behind-the-scenes pics and transcript. Why? Because I was watching this bit (again) last night, and it made me laugh (again). So I thought I'd share the funny.

WARNING: Moebius spoilers. Sort of.

The Irrepressible Mr. Anderson

They started to worry when Rick came back from lunch with a pie roped to his head.

[Rick is trying out ridiculous pie-like hat. Everyone is laughing at him.]

Peter DeLuise: We've gotta give you a better... No, it's making me laugh, Rick. Come on.
RDA: [Unwilling to relinquish the hat] Well, then it's working.

What? I was MacGyver, for cryin' out loud. Dignity is no longer in my vocabulary.

PDL: See, everyone else looks cool. You wanna be the only one who doesn't look cool?
RDA: YES! [Much handwaving] Don't you get it?! I've built a career on that!
PDL: If we go for funny, it should look more funny.

I'll just act not funny. No one'll notice the hat.

RDA: What is the option so we can appease Mr. DeLuise's conservative approach to filmmaking? [Tries on hat that resembles a pile of fat noodles.] How's that?
PDL: No, it's too funny.
RDA: What? God! It works. Let me see. [Looks in mirror, adjusts hat.] There, it's good. It's not a flattop.
[Turns head abruptly to make hat strings swing. Everyone laughs.]
RDA [Slightly contrite] I'll make it work. I won't make it funny.
PDL: [Dubiously] You're just gonna act not-funny?
RDA: [Unconvincingly] Yes.

The catering staff called, they want their dishrag back.

RDA: [Looks at camera as he's given new hat.] Are you chronicling how difficult we are?
[Someone puts weird kind of tight dishrag on his head. Everyone laughs.]

David Lean called, he's threatening to sue.

[Yet another new hat. This one seems to be the one they finally went with.]
PDL: This is gonna look good.
RDA: [Tones of gloom] It'll look boring.
PDL: Boring, but not funny. [Rick has managed to put the hat on over his eyes. PDL corrects hat so it sits normally.] Good. Better. Much better. Okay. Now we shoot.
RDA: It must be dull.
PDL: [Trying to tempt Rick with the shiny?] Lawrence of Arabia.

RDA: [Tucks hat behind his ears. Quiet satisfaction.] That's the look I was going for.

The Look is achieved.

He's lucky he's cute hey? Cause man, that bloke'd be a bugger to direct :p

Yeah, I'd be about ready to beat him over the head with those hats, but Peter DeLuise seemed to take it all in stride. I guess that part of a director's job is knowing how to cope with your cast, and I doubt Rick can be browbeaten into behaving.

Still... cute. And he knows it. *g*

doesn't the AD come up at the end of that looking very long-suffering and tell them to enough with the laughing and start working?

It's that clip right?

Because PDL is just as bad! One wonders if they have to wrangle the director as much as the cast sometimes :p

Yeah, that's the clip. I guess someone's got to be the spoilsport. *g* I got the impression that PDL was trying to be professional - but was so tempted to join in the fun...

I so hope they show the blooper reel someday.

Gah! That wasn't on the region 1 DVDs. Bastards! As if it wasn't bad enough that we had to go through the hell of not having the 90 minute Threads and then switching the DVD out. They have to gyp us with extras too? GRRR.

RDA is a riot. They really should put out a Stargate blooper real. I'm sure it would be hilarious.

Personally, I prefer the Lawrence of Arabia look. RDA looks way cooler that Peter O'Toole anyway.

Aw, that's very mean. I wonder why Stargate seems to favour the UK so much? The shows play here first, we get better DVDs... odd. Usually we miss out on a lot of stuff, so maybe we had it coming. :7

I read somewhere - Gateworld, I think - about a blooper reel, and that they were thinking of putting it out with... something... maybe the movie... *goes to check* ... *can't find it* Did I dream that?

I've always though that was very strange too.

*gets on loud angry American soapbox w/tongue firmly in cheek*

Damn it! It's an American show about American Air Force officers based on an American movie? Why do we have to wait to see it?

*Tongue out of cheek but no less angry*

It's because nearly everyone that works for the Scifi channel has to be on some serious drugs. They really just shoot themselves in the foot the way they break up seasons and shuffle schedules. And make really stupid movies like Mansqito.

During season 8 I had a friend of mine download the eps we didn't get yet since I didn't have high speed internet at the time. My dad would call me the day it aired to see if my pal had got it yet. Neither my dad nor I are as excited over season 9 and 10 to make the effort. I did have to see the second half of SGA's The Return for RDA though.

I can see that would be irksome. It does seem odd.

Programme schedulers, though, I've heard many a rant about - and ranted about myself a time or two. They're wonderfully effective at killing what should be popular shows stone ded.

They're threatening to postpone Doctor Who because of football, this weekend. *growls* Apparently they don't feel obligated towards the percentage of people that doesn't like goddamn football.

Yes, I've been very mad at Fox for preempting House and Bones for American Idol. How can you expect to keep any new viewers (or old ones) coming back if there's a new episode every 3 or 4 weeks? Non-obsessed people don't really have time to keep track of all that. AI is such a ridiculous farce anyway. *whine* What is TV coming to? Fox has a bad track record anyway. Wacky scheduling screwed up both Firefly and Futurama.

*end rant*

Totally the ones I was going to cite. *g*

They buggered about with Monty Python a lot, too, apparently - I know this because my partner is a big fan, and has pointed out various sketches where they talk about the intelligence (or lack thereof) of BBC Programme Schedulers. None of which I can remember, of course.

Depends whereabouts you are... It's on the Region 2, Season 8 box set dvd, the one with Moebius on. It's in the extras section. 'Director's Series: Moebius'.

Aw. Hopefully they'll release it someday. I had a quick look on youtube, but no joy.

I'll see if I can upload more stuff, if you like? But I wouldn't try to upload clips of it. Oh no. I wouldn't do that. Because that would be illegal.

Yeah... I, too, quick checked youtube. As you said, no joy.

^_^ I like! (And of course we all know that illegality is bad... *innocent look*)

We sad souls in Region 1 also missed out on the Director's series for Threads where we get to RDA in a semi-state of undress and he talks about his wonky toes.

I was really disappointed that there was no commentary for Threads, too. Though I don't think anyone got that. Commentaries are some of my favorite parts.

Not actually as attractive as one might expect. Filled me more with the urge to cuddle him than to jump his bones. I think I prefer later-years-Jack with his clothes on. *g*

(He's still sexier than most fifty-something guys, though!)

I love this bit, he's such an adorable dork. Not sure I'd have the patience to work with him though.

I bought all the region 2 DVDs, up to s8 anyway. There's actually a whole bunch of stuff region 1 missed out on... again.

I love that he wants to look silly. That's just... really my sort of guy. *g* He's not all about the being-cooler-than-thou-and-put-the-camera-on-the-left-because-that's-my-best-side.

Although, admittedly, that may have a lot to do with the fact that he is a good-looking guy, and patently knows it, so presumably doesn't feel the urge to worry about it.

In fact, I have a collection of pics of RDA in silly hats, waiting to be made into some kind of icon, or series of icons.
