Sooooo... after whingeing about the remix/redux, I've now written nearly 3,000 words for it. And I've got maybe another 2,000, tops, to go. Yeah. Weird. Because I found an X-Men fic on this writer's lj, and it's totally my preferred ship for that fandom (Wolverine! Rogue! Yes!), and hers is written from Rogue POV, and Wolvie's always been my favourite to write, so... yeah. Huh. Note to self: don't whinge before examining all the options.
On the other hand, it's been a long, long while since I last wrote Wolverine/Rogue fic, and I hadn't really felt the need to write any more (I kinda said all I wanted to say about the one relationship that interested me, in one of my fics). Whereas I don't feel so... finished, with Stargate. But hey. I love and adore my snarky Wolvie. He's so grumpy.
What is it with me and grumpy men? *looks pointedly at boyfriend* Surely this should not be an attractive feature? Hm.
Some of my crushes to date:
- Robin of Sherwood (did a good line in pouting and looking through his bangs)
- Jareth from Labyrinth (King Grumpy)
- Rochester (classic grumpy)
- Mr Darcy (ditto)
- Bryan Adams (er... more 'bland' than 'grumpy' - but sounds fairly bad-tempered from his biography *thoroughly embarrassed*)
- Raistlin from the Dragonlance books (grumpy through to downright bwahahaha-this-world-is-mine!mine!miiiiiiine! evil)
- Howl from Howl's Moving Castle - the book, not the film (Expresses His Feelings With Green Slime)
- Fox Mulder (hmm. Not overwhelmingly grumpy. But prone to bouts of sarcasm)
- Adam Ant (did a song called 'Here Comes The Grump'. Diagnosed bipolar, or something along those lines)
- Wolverine (grumpy to the factor of 10)
- Jack O'Neill (grumpy-cute)
...oh for crying out loud. You know, maybe it's not me. Maybe all men are grumpy.
- Mood:
wittering

And thinking of Avons, there's also Avon off Blake's Seven. And Steel! Ah, Steel - not so much grumpy, as oddly thwarted. I knew I'd missed a few.
Hi. :) I'm an X-Men movieverse fan and bordering-on-obsessive Logan/Rogue shipper who's read your fic "The Ordinary Girl" a billion times and absolutely loved it, so I thought I'd come take a peek at your LJ. I've actually been meaning for a while now to review "Ordinary Girl" and
begask if you have any sequel ideas yet, so I have to say I'm sad to see that you don't feel the need to write any more. Hopefully that'll change someday? ;) But anyway, all that to say, I just wanted to pop in and say hi and express my adoration for your fic. I'll have to check out your SG-1 writings too.I totally get you with the thematic leading characters. Though I must say in Dragonlance I was more of a Tanis fan. Because you know I got to ship the people with complicated/impossible romantic entanglements along with being on the broody side.(Though I did have this weird delusion when I was very sick with bronchitis that I was Raistlin. I think it was the death rattle cough.)
Hmm, your list may have inspired me out of the lethargy that has descended on me lately and make a list of my own. After reading yours I'm sitting here thinking about what all my favorite characters have in common. There's a lot of snark and angst there.
Tanis... he's the half-elf, right? Yeah, he was cool, too - just not Dark Side enough for me. *g* I loved them best as a group - Caramon, Raistlin, Tanis, whatsisname the Kender, the knight bloke (Sturm?), the pair from... thingy... the woman who Tanis had a thing with... okay, yeah, it's been a while. And I may be mixing some of it up with David Eddings' Belgariad / Mallorean.
There was a Dragonlance short story about those incredibly stupid gnomes in a mountain that had me in stitches, though. And I seem to remember Raistlin having some weird time-travel one-off affair thing with a... troll? Or am I imagining that? *frowns*
Whenever my friend went on holiday, she used to send me postcards with news of Raistlin. And I think once I even got a postcard from the man himself. *g* Or it might have been from thingy, D-something, his elven apprentice... Damaris? Darren? Deltoid? Whatever his name was.
Me? Geek? Naaaaaaaaaaah.
Lists! I like lists. Although I did miss off a few important crushes, but nevermind. Write yours, then your flist can work out your brand of psychosis! ;)
I'll have to check out your X-Men fic then. It has to be good because I love your Stargate fic. : )
I used to love the Dragonlance books. I think I read all of the ones about the original Companions. I still break out my Annotated Dragonlance Chronicles every once and a while and reread them. I didn't much care for the sequels that came out about their children though. The combination of the originally was just so great. I guess it's kind of like not being able to enhoy the 'new' SG-1. It's not what I originally fell in love with.
There is always much squee to be had there over folk of the not-quite-so-real kind :D
Also Jareth is absolutely in my top 100 list :D
I love him despite the dubious dress sense.
And I loved Jareth's dress sense! Okay, yes, the tights/leggings things were a little... disturbing. But the owl cloak was gorgeous. And also the glittery coat in the ballroom... although without the camera filters it may have looked a little gaudy...
Yeah, you may be right. *g*
"And you, Sarah... How are you enjoying my Labyrinth?" *shiver*
Oh, ever read SGCbearcub's Labyrinth stuff? I've avoided getting into the Labyrinth fanfic, but I read her SG-1 stuff, and then I saw she'd written Labyrinth fic, and couldn't help but take a peek... and it's really good. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/771305/
