Sod. Just been told that my contract will be coming to an end at the beginning of May. My boss is moving to our branch in Yorkshire, so unless I want to head up north... Ah well, not too big a deal - it is, after all, a temp job. My boss could, in theory, have just told me not to come in the next day - but he's been very thoughtful and given me more than a month's warning. It's a pity, though, because I quite like the job, and the company. I'd just started to get involved with things like the Social Committee and the PA/EA network, too. I'm not distraught. Just a bit... "bah."

I'm planning a major home move in July (to another part of the country, probably), so I can't really get a permanent job when this one finishes. But my temp agency has been great thus far, and I have teh office skillz, so I don't anticipate it being a problem finding three months' work. Plus I'll be owed a week+ of paid leave by then, so I might take time off. It'll be my 30th birthday around then, too.

Oy.

*is not going to think about it right now*

edit: But both [profile] carnivalofsquee and [profile] schmoop_age are due on April 30th, so I'll be pretty incoherent. I'll need the time off work just to cope with the glee. *g*

Temp agencies are good for finding work. I'm sure that you can find something in the meantime, even if it sucks to have to say goodbye to your current job. At least the agency you use seems to have a good record.

Yeah. I'll be fine. It's just a pity, 'cause it's a nice job so I'd've liked to have stayed here up until I chose to leave (in July). *g* Somewhat selfish of me, I fully admit.

*g* Glad I amoose you.

I'm thinking about Oxford. I like Oxford, it's a beautiful place, and I have family and friends there, so it seems like a plausible option. Or somewhere like that - somewhere pretty. Basically, I just want to get out of London - I've come to the conclusion that it's only a fun place to be if you're very rich and can take taxis everywhere.

o0o0o0o0o0o0o, Oxford IS pretty :) Spires!

My family was all based in Essex (YES! My Grandad is an Essex Boy!) but now they've either moved to the Hebrides or Scotland. Or the Isle of Wight. And here I am stuck in Western Australia.

Far-flung, huh? I was nearly Australian - my parents were contemplating emigrating there before I was born. It's a very odd idea, thinking of what might have been me. I'd have a different accent, and a tan! *tries to think of more cultural stereotypes* And a hat with corks! ;D

eating meat pies, petting kangaroos, living through a drought, getting bitten by koalas, playing the wobble board (somebody please shoot Rolf), wearing thongs, King Gees, acubras, getting bitten by snakes...what else do we Aussies do? lol ;)

Yes, all that could have been mine, if my parents had emigrated. Instead I have bowler hats and brollies, incessant rain, jellied eels (yeuch), butlers, Cockney rhyming slang, and extreme politeness.

The tea and scones are nice, though.
