Never let it be said that I missed a convenient bandwagon as it passed...

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

In no particular order:

Pirating 101: Because I laughed so much when writing it. There's no plot whatsoever, and no description, either – just dialogue – but I just had such fun coming up with all the pirate-speak. The pirate names in particular. *g*

Out Go The Lights: I was just really, really pleased with the balance of this one. It starts of fairly fluffy, then there's some angst, then a bit more angst... and then a happy ending. It's the kind of fic that's my favourite to read. And also I set out to write kissing without just fading out (my usual trick), and felt it went okay – not too much like there were diagrams involved.

Prolix: This is an X-Men, Wolverine/Rogue fic. Basically, in it I stated my case for the pairing, and why (and how) they should end up together. I think at the time there was a rumour going around that Bryan Singer had asked our W/R Yahoo group to explain exactly why we thought they should get together. Delusional insanity, I realise that now, but it set me thinking.

Sensitive: Another X-Men, Wolverine/Rogue fic, and another where I felt I'd got the humour and angst balanced to my satisfaction. I love writing Wolverine's mental dialogue – he amuses me no end. I loved writing his creative way of swearing.

Safe And Sound: Back to Stargate again. I could completely visualise every moment of their time in the escape pod, and I think that comes across. And it's all about Sam's protective streak coming out when the Colonel's injured / in trouble. My fic way of giving him a big cuddle, after Abyss. So there I was, writing a big cuddle, visualising it clearly... *g*

None of these are perfect, they all have the odd bit that I feel I could have done better – but they've all also got bits that I felt I couldn't have done better. Which I why I chose them.

Interesting to me is that almost none of these have any plot to speak of. That bothers me in a way, but not completely. I do feel that action isn't terribly important, in and of itself – it's the effects of action that I'm interested in reading / writing about - the emotional impact on the characters – how they react, how they interact with one another...

But sometimes I would actually like to come up with a story with actual plot, simply because the more in-depth a plot, the more you can explore things about the worlds inside the characters' heads. Maybe someday I'll work on something longer and more satisfying. (Get your minds out of the gutter – I'm talking about fic!)

I adore Out Go The Lights and all your SG fic, especially the S/J. Do you mind if I friend you?

I've just spent the last half hour scrolling thru your journal and reading your Sam/Cam and rereading the Space Pirate fic. I'd like to friend you and get your fic delivered to my screen anytime I log into LJ.

Thanks! (And feel free to friend me back, but I'm not a writer, just a reader and never post about SG, just horses, dogs, and bikes. If you don't friend back, no worries. )
