I spent the majority of Sunday watching Stargate in my pyjamas (uh, that is, me in my pyjamas and Stargate on the TV - Stargate was not actually in my pyjamas, and that's a really peculiar notion, stop thinking about it). It was awesome. I watched season 4, from Small Victories to Window of Opportunity, then a break while I got dressed and went to the shops, and then Watergate to halfway through Beneath the Surface. Then my mum turned up unexpectedly (travelling back from Vienna, engineering work on the train tracks at Oxford, so she stopped at ours overnight), which was also awesome but meant I had to stop my deliberate programme of doing buggerall in order to pamper her for Mother's Day. *g*

Scorched Earth wasn't as antagonistic as I remembered. The only time Jack seemed really, seriously pissed at Daniel was when he was worried that Daniel was on the spaceship he was about to blow up. The rest of the time... the words were brusque, but not angry. Jack was short-tempered, but he never refused to listen, so long as people weren't telling him things he already knew (that it was a crappy situation and that both sides had merit). Daniel did seem to accept - eventually - that Jack understood the situation, and that what he needed to do was not to debate it with Jack, but to go out and find a third way.

I've made a sneaky breakthrough in persuading A to like Stargate: he liked Chaka, in The First Ones. I'll leave it a while and then play Beast of Burden at him. *g*

The long exchange of looks at the end of The Other Side continues to intrigue me. From Jack's emphasis of "Don't be" (in response to Hammond's regret about not getting the technology), I think he was telling Sam not to be sorry about Alar's death - and it mirrored the moment at the start of the episode, where Sam realised they'd unwittingly caused the death of three Eurondans who smacked against the iris, and Jack tells her "It's not your fault, Carter. Move on." But is Jack saying he doesn't feel guilty - or trying to convince himself/Sam of that? And does Sam give him that appalled look because she thinks he/they are culpable, or just because she can't believe Alar followed them and OMG he just went splat? What do they tell Hammond about those last few seconds?

And in Crossroads, what the hell was everyone thinking, letting Teal'c visit Tanith at the end? If the whole point of not killing Tanith just then was so he thought he'd convinced everyone he was a good guy and would therefore pass on the wrong information to the Goa'uld... then maybe it would have been good for Teal'c not to confront him? I mean, Teal'c couldn't have been more obviously on-the-edge-of-a-Jaffa-revenge-thing. And Tanith seemed to know it - he was doing his smug Goa'uld thing. Was he really so stupid to think that, even though Teal'c clearly thought he was guilty as all hell, the Tok'ra were trusting him? Were they all counting on him being that stupid? Was Teal'c really willing to risk his Shan'auc's-death-will-not-be-in-vain thing just so he could give Tanith a murderous glare and a (really not at all ambiguous) promise? Stupid, stupid move, guys.

Also, I still love seeing the two versions of the forcefield scene in Upgrades and Divide & Conquer. What a difference a different edit can make! *happy sigh* *speculates about all the other moments that didn't make it into the official report*

I must have a look back at the Redial discussions for these eps.

Note to self: Teal'c dials the DHD in Watergate.

Okay, if they're wearing pink lacy babydolls then they're certainly not in my pyjamas. Hee.

And, gah, no, not Hammond. I love him, and I want him to keep his dignity. Please!

*wants pjs with Thor on, now*
