Hoorah for Bank Holidays! I got up early today, just so I could enjoy NOT going to work. I emailed my mum, texted my friend, slouched down to the shops, stocked up on food for the apocalypse long weekend, and bought a book my brother used to own and which I'd always coveted ('The Way Things Work' by David Macaulay - it tells you all about how things work, natch, "From levers to lasers, cars to computers", and is illustrated with little cartoon mammoths. It's a book both Sam and Jack would agree on for their children). Then I fell asleep on the sofa to the restful sounds of... A killing zombies.

The focus-puller on NCIS is bugging me. I think I'm warped. But he or she is crap! Focus properly, dammit! ...I need help.

*lazes moar*

The Way Things Work! That is an awesome book. My friend has a copy and he got it signed and I am supremely jealous of him.

Oh, cool! I'm jealous, now, too. Isn't it fun? I used to borrow it all the time, to just dip in and learn about... levers, and how they could be applied when giving a mammoth a bath, and such. :)

We have that book! A very old copy. Hee. The little ones understand none of it, but they like it when we read it anyway. And the fun pictures.

Hee! Isn't it awesome? This one is secondhand, I saw it in a charity shop and couldn't resist it. I knew that if anyone else had seen it, they'd understand. :)

Aha - the person who ensures the camera is always in focus (adjusting as necessary for moving shots or moving subjects). They keep having slightly fuzzy shots on NCIS, and it's driving me nuts. I think it's partly because I wear glasses, so force of habit is making me blink and try to make my eyes focus properly.

Really. I hadn't noticed. Is there any particular scene you're remembering?

(It could be that I need to clean my tv screen again. :-)

Well, I've vaguely noticed it a few times recently, but the one that struck me was an interrogation scene between Jeane and Director Sheppard (the one where she gets Jeane to confess that Tony didn't shoot her father). Jeane was in focus, the Director wasn't. Perhaps it was done to make her look more sick or something, I dunno. But it was annoying.

Oh! I'll take a look at that one.

I'm now intensely curious. :-)

Maybe they were just trying to hide the horrific makeup job she usually had going? Always looked like they applied her lipstick in a moving car while it was going over railroad tracks.
