pepper: Pepperpot (Camoflage Jack)
I feel like I haven't posted much of substance lately – probably because I, uh, haven't. I've not been having crises or anything – I've just been a combination of busy and uninspired.

So, what'm I up to? Well. Working, mainly (such is life). Saving up money for trips to cons / a new camera + some good lenses / various other plans. I keep picking up digital SLR magazines and looking at the camera porn. *wants*

I've watched a lot of Stargate recently – but not S10. I'm staying in my comfort zone at the moment. :) I've seen most of season 3 recently, although I'm trying to resist watching the ones we're due to rewatch on Redial (Urgo, Shades of Grey, Crystal Skull, and Nemesis), and several of season 6. Paradise Lost, mmmmm. What is it about Jack running around unshaven, with bare feet and a gun? And that scene between Sam and Teal'c is just so good – Daniel gone, Jack missing for nearly a month, and it's just beginning to sink in that they may be the last surviving members of the original team, and Teal'c goes to tentatively put his arm around Sam (unsure if she'll accept it? Unsure if it's the right way to comfort her?), and she just flings her arms around him and clings... *sniffles*

And I'm reading a lot of old fanfic that I'd saved to my computer, and trying to take note of episode-related fics to rec for Redial (I have a Foothold rec! I'm so going to leap in there with it, before anyone else has the chance. *g*). Thinking of such, I was trying to find a fic recently. I swear I didn't imagine it, but I can't for the life of me remember author, title – anything useful like that. It was a brief, tragic little thing, with Sam going to visit Merrin (the little girl from Learning Curve) after Jack has died. Anyone on my flist know of, or in fact write, it?

Hokay. Back to work.

No clue, but would love to read it.

Actually, I was just commiserating. *grins* Although my latest post shows me I've just been channeling my time elsewhere, probably.

But, but, but with a time loop machine, you can keep going back over the same moment, and then you'll have - OOH, SANCTUARY ADVERT ON TV! - plenty of time to get work and stuff done... but of course it won't be done because it'll disappear when the loop resets, but maybe you could use indelible ink...

Or I could er...use the loop to find my old crush and kiss him, I suppose. Time loops seem to be good for that sort of thing.

Work already has plenty of time, really. :-)

Exactly! You can do anything you want. So says a certain PhD.

I don't know! But it's just sooooo good. And also SmartJack! Figuring it out all on his own for once, without Sam or Daniel putting clues together for him. Yay for SmartJack! :)

Mm, yes, the fact that he's smart and capable and a lone wolf in this ep definitely adds to the sexiness. ♥

Sam visiting Merrin fic: Crayola's (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/784845/1/Crayolas). I just re-read it, it's so sad and lovely and sigh. Oh, them.

There should be A LOT more Sam and Jack and Merrin fic around. Yes. :)

I've got seriously camera lust too. I've got to stop visiting the one I want on amazon.com, it's torture.

Paradise Lost, mmmmm. What is it about Jack running around unshaven, with bare feet and a gun?

This is so one of my favorite episodes for just that reason. And what [livejournal.com profile] a_loquita said about Smart!Jack - that part makes me so happy. Plus there's that montage where he's hiking all around the planet looking for answers, it's really moving to me for some reason. I think because it somehow conveys not only his isolation in that moment but also how alone he is even when he's got his team.

Oh yes, I keep looking on Amazon, too. I've bookmarked one of their lists, with the camera I want and all the accessories and lenses and such that would make up a fairly complete kit. *luuuuuuuusts*

Yes, the montage is melancholy, isn't it? It does feel like he's alone on the planet (except of course for Maybourne - and I doubt anyone would pick him as the one person they wanted to be stranded with). All that silence. And the fact that it's so beautiful adds to the sense of it being untouched.
