I love Sara in this, she's so strong even in her grief and loves Jack so much in spite of all his issues.

Yeah, I just felt that she'd still feel that impulse to take care of him, despite everything, and despite what she must be going through, herself. But also strong enough to pull away (for the most part), when she knows the relationship is impossible.

And Jack knows he's not in a place where he can offer anything substantial back, but he still would take the support and the caring she offers, because he desperately needs it. For all its brevity, it was one of the most grown-up and complicated relationships on the show. Such a pity there wasn't more.
