Also, I will not now be moving to Oxford in June. Chiz chiz, it's the sensible choice, so we have to sign up for another 12 months at the place we're currently renting (with no break clause) - but next year... Yes. More time to plan, find work there, sort various and sundry other things out... all that practical stuff. Ah well. (Means I can go sign up for the  sjficathon  now, though!)

edit: Thought I wish I hadn't just had (when mentally working out how I might describe MacGyver): if Jack and Sam had a son, he might well have grown up to be Mac (if you ignore the whole timeline thing). Science, and fishing, and hockey, and bad jokes, and inability to leave a problem alone, and love of being outdoors...
