Wow. Weird, freaky, horrible dream. It seemed to be set in the world of '28 Days Later' - which is a film I've only seen clips of, but apparently that was enough to brand it into my subconscious. I was in a training camp in the woods, being trained by military people in BDUs (only good bit of the dream) in how to fight the scary evil fast infected humans by throwing frisbees, those three-pointed frisbee-esque things, and little bits of Lego at them (my dreams are really stupid sometimes).

And then we heard that someone was setting off huge explosions in the sky. I saw a zeppelin above us, and it began to tilt, like it was sinking, and I suddenly realised it was going to explode, and that there was no where for me to hide. I just kind of ducked into a ball and waited to die a horrible fiery death. But the explosion turned out to be a way of spreading the infection - liquid, not fire - so everyone around me became scary evil fast zombies. I was the only one who didn't get infected because I was already half-werewolf (don't know where that came from). I had claws, so when someone came after me I shredded them, and then burst into tears. Because, damn, it wasn't fun. Then I ran a lot. Hid out in abandoned buildings. Avoided the zombies.

There was more to it, but I can't remember it all, aside from the feeling of horror and futility - I was the only survivor, and I'd have to keep hiding, running and killing if I wanted to live. Ugh. I kept half waking up and trying not to fall back asleep, but to no avail - the dream had its claws in me. So that wasn't much fun.

On the other hand, my space pirate fic is so far being nauseatingly happy, so perhaps I'll try and get some of my dream's atmosphere into it, pep it up a bit.

Pop quiz, hotshot...

Quick question for y'all: if, say, you came across an alien castle that had been deserted for a very, very long time (we're talking thousands of years), what sort of state would you expect the furnishings to be in? I was thinking all gone, but then I thought, hang on a moment, there are stately homes around the UK with Elizabethan furniture still in use, and that'd be 500 years old... and I'm sure I remember going to castles that have chairs and beds and such from the time of the Norman Conquest, and that was 1000 years ago... The stuff is probably not in use, because it needs to be preserved, but it may be potentially useable... So if, say, this alien castle had been deserted for two or three thousand years, and the castle is still liveable, the furniture couldn't be, y'know, dust - right? Besides the fact that it's alien furniture...

I guess what I'm asking is, what feels right? I'm trying to get a picture in my head.
