So, I had a good Christmas. Bit stressful, because I'd invested quite a lot of emotional energy into it this year, which usually I don't. I did a lot of visiting relatives, making sure I had the perfect Christmas gifts for people, that sort of thing. Ugh. And now, of course, I feel a little down because it's over, and I hate New Year, and then I have to go back to work and I so need a change of career. My brain overheated last night when trying to get to sleep, and kept coming up with ideas for things I could do other than work in an office for the rest of my natural life. Teaching was one thought. I always vowed I'd never be a teacher - possibly because I'm contrary, and people used to suggest that to me as a career on a semi-regular basis. That and journalist, and illustrator. Starting to think that, gasp, perhaps my mother was right! Heaven help us all.
On the positive side, one thing I always do to fend off the January blues is get tickets to something. So I'm going to see 'Rock 'n' Roll', a play by Tom Stoppard, in a coupla weeks. Looking forwards, although I wish Rufus Sewell was still in it, because I saw him, about 10 years ago, in a play called 'Arcadia' (also by Tom Stoppard), and totally fell in love with his smouldering gorgeousness. :)
Culture? What culture? Me go see pretty actor in play. Not pay attention silly words.
And I got a chocolate fondue fountain, totally unexpectedly. Let me say it again, because it bears repeating: a chocolate. fondue. fountain. ZOMG. Needs 800g of chocolate just to function, so that's the diet out the window. I don't think even I can eat that much chocolate in one sitting, though, even melted on strawberries (...guh...), so will have to have a chocolate fondue party or something. :)
And, weirdly, for the first time ever I didn't get any books (or DVDs, for that matter). I got mostly chocolate things, or smellies, or combinations thereof (chocolate-scented shower gel, w00t). Is this the image people have of me, as reflected in gift form?
But, also, I got a laptop. *smug*
