Favorite Bits From the Year:

From Don't Have A Cow, Man:

"You're okay?"

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Sorry about the –" She waved the phone in her hand. "I was just gonna call you back. Sir, are there... are there S.W.A.T. guys in my flowerbeds?" She peered around him. She really loved those flowerbeds, and they'd not yet recovered from the last time S.W.A.T. guys had invaded her house. She was probably gonna be pissed.

"Um." Jack stared at her some more, and then at the gun in his hand. He holstered it quickly. "Hey, Carter! Me and some of the guys thought we'd stop by, see if you-"

---

From New Ground:

It was so pleasant to hear his voice from this angle. She considered kissing him again. It probably wasn't a good idea, if she wanted to leave her garage today. "I was otherwise occupied."

"Ah, you were distracted by my overwhelming hotness — it happens," he said, smugly.

"Oh, for god's sake," she muttered into his collar. "Is this what you're going to be like?"

"You know you like it."

"Put up with it," she corrected.

"Like it."

He had all the social graces of a five-year-old.

---

From Float Like A Butterfly:

"Um, I am to be a palace servant," explained Daniel, quickly. "I think she – I think she said something about 'entertainment', but I'm not sure." He frowned. The pincer moved towards Teal'c. "Teal'c is to – er – to work in the kitchens. Or he's going to the kitchens." Teal'c's gaze came quickly down from the ceiling. "I think – I'm fairly sure she means to work there, and not to be – er. Er. As far as I know, they only eat that sap stuff. I don't think their mouths are designed to eat, you know - solid food." Teal'c drew in a breath to speak, but the pincer moved on to wave between Jack and Sam. "And you are both to – to what?" He spoke haltingly in an approximation of the 'bug-eyed monsters' (as Jack called them) chittering language, as Sam glanced uneasily at her commanding officer. The Queen made an impatient gesture with three of her arms, and chittered back. "Oh." Daniel looked back at them, giving a brief, harassed smile. "I think you're going to be shepherds."

Jack sighed. Well, at least it wasn't mining.

Substantial Works in Progress I Intend to Finish Sometime:
Argh. My [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree and my [livejournal.com profile] reel_sg1 fics. *has guilt*

My Favorite Stories of the Year:
Planet Of The Woobies, because I love writing crackfic. And New Ground, because it was, for me, a long fic.

My Best Stories This Year:
Mmf. I'm not very satisfied with my stories this year. I'd say Float Like A Butterfly was the best of the bunch. And I'm pretty pleased with Q is for Questions, too - I'd like to write some more of young Teal'c.

Stories most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Oh, I don't feel any of them were under-appreciated. I always get lovely feedback. :)

Stories I Wrote That I Never Thought I'd Write:
Real People. I mean, Jack O'Neill/Martha Jones? Seriously?

Most Fun Stories:
Planet Of The Woobies (because oh, that book... oy), and N is for Nish'ta (Jacob and Teal'c being mischievous, yay!).

Sexiest Stories:
Sometimes I Can Forget (first time I wrote Sam/Jack PWP), and Inspiration (Sam/Mac pr0n, and I stand by my idea that Sam would find inspiration at that moment).

Hardest Stories to Write:
B is for Blackmail, Babysitting, Bra'tac, and Bravery. It just wouldn't come to me.

Easiest Stories to Write:
All those British Museum ficlets. They just appeared – whoosh. Except for the ones I haven't done yet, of course.

Favorite...
Sam Carter:
It's Been An Honor - Because Sam does the best she can, with whatever resources she's got.
Daniel Jackson: Tourist Stuff - Because Daniel needs to be annoyed regularly, or he gets too complacent.
Jack O'Neill: Ganging Up - Because Jack's "kids" do love him, really.
Teal'c: Q is for Questions - Because, little Teal'c!

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less, definitely. And much less substantial that I'd hope – it's all very short, most of the fics are under a thousand words.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I don't think I did, really. :(

Do you have any goals for the New Year?
Finishing off my British Museum ficlets (I've done all the research, now I just need to sit down and write – or in one case, draw - them). Finishing all those stories that I've almost done, but which just need... something else, before I'm happy to post them. Writing something lengthy. Writing something risky.
