pepper: Pepperpot (Cuddle a Colonel)

Incidentally, there is FIC HERE (attention-seeking? Moi?)

Gakked from [profile] kellifer_fic   :

Name three fics you think I will never, ever, ever write. In return, I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them. (Assuming, you know, that I have some idea what the fandom is, etc.)

Do your worst! :-)

Me, procrastinating on my Sam/Daniel fic? Naaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Actually, I've written 500+ words on it today, so I'm feeling productive. Although I'd feel more productive if I could work out What Happens Next. If I get it finished by this weekend, is anyone up for a quick beta? I don't think it'll be much more than 1,500 words when finished.

edit: Thanks to [profile] abyssinia4077 for the prompts - this one bit me quickly!

"Major!" Jack bellowed, using all the voice projection he'd had trained into him at the Academy. "Stop flying around right this instant and GET BACK DOWN HERE!"

There was a faint, rebellious noise from several metres above their heads, and the Colonel looked irritably at Daniel. "It wasn't my fault!" protested the archaeologist, for the several-dozenth time. Jack's scowl deepened.

Teal'c was standing with his hands behind his back, calmly observing the errant Major's aerial acrobatics with her new... acquisitions. "I believe it will be most difficult to persuade Major Carter to land," he remarked.

"Thanks, T," said Jack, sarcastically. "I hadn't worked that one out. MAJOR! IF YOU'RE NOT DOWN HERE IN FIVE SECONDS, I'M PUTTING YOU ON REPORT!"

From this distance, it was difficult to tell exactly what Carter said, but it definitely didn't have the proper, respectful tone due to a superior officer. Jack sighed, and gave in, staring up at his 2IC along with the rest of his team.

"You know," he said, "If someone had warned me that Carter was going to grow wings, I'd've expected something more Tinkerbell than... Batman."

"I'm telling her you said that," said Daniel.

Jack's shove sent him sprawling onto the controls. Daniel's outflung hand hit a button, there was a tinkling sound, and they both turned to stare in horror at Teal'c.

"IT WASN'T MY FAULT!"

edit2: Jack/Felger (Avenger 2.0 spoilers)...

"Colonel O'Neill!" yelled Jay Felger, flinging himself at Jack and babbling his relief at being rescued. Jack, in response, grabbed Jay's hat and fended him off.

"Felger! Felger! JAY! What did I say about touching?" he snapped.

Jay stepped back, quickly. Jack could be so touchy – in the non-touchy way – sometimes. "Not in public," he muttered.

"Damn right."

"Absolutely, yes, it's just I'm so glad to see you – we were over there, and they – the Jaffa came, and they were shooting, and I couldn't fix the Gate controls, and they were everywhere, and Major Carter was shooting, and then you – you-" his voice sped up as he spoke, a heady combination of adrenalin and relief, and he lunged again at the Colonel, wrapping his arms around him and clinging for all he was worth. "I'm so glad to see you," he said, muffled against Jack's chest.

Jack rolled his eyes and pulled a hand free, to rub Jay's back, soothingly. "Yeah, I got that," he said, somewhat more gently.

edit3: OMG, you must read this right now! [profile] abyssinia4077  put all three of her prompts in one fic! Genius stuff (scroll down, it's in the comments). Hahaha!

I love this meme.

edit4: Last one:

Janet was displeased.

"No," she said.

Two very tall men and one teenaged girl shrank a little more.

"But, mom–" said Cassie, unwisely drawing attention to herself.

"I said no, Cassie." There were no threats, no raised voices. There was only The Tone. Cassie subsided immediately, and Janet's focus went to Daniel and Teal'c. They both flinched. Fake gods had nothing on this woman.

"I am unfamiliar with the Tauri custom of 'the prom'," tried Teal'c. "Daniel Jackson and Cassandra were–"

"Oh, don't give me that," said Janet, disgustedly. "We all watched 'Pretty In Pink' together just three weeks ago. Don't think I've forgotten."

Teal'c was vanquished. Janet turned to Daniel, her expression demanding an explanation.

"I don't see why it's so wrong for men to dress colorfully, and after all in many other cultures it's perfectly acceptable, even expected, that men will wear a long robe - the Jaffa, in fact, being an example of that, and besides, you said Cassie needed a chaperone, and Teal'c will still be the most intimidating man there, even in aquamarine tulle..."

His babbling petered out under Janet's icy glare. Daniel looked at the floor, and shuffled his feet.

"Ithoughtitwasfunny," he muttered. Teal'c shot him a betrayed look.

"What was that?" enquired Janet, crisp as a Colorado winter morning.

Daniel looked up, and gave her his best, most sincere, most winning smile. "Janet, I'm really-" he began.

An aquamarine court shoe, size 12, caught him squarely between the eyes.

I KNOW! I mean, each and every one of them was heart-ripy but Daniel Daniel Daniel Daniel Daniel

First getting jailed when he was invited on a diplomatic mission and then MOPING IN HIS CELL WHEN THEY BLEW THE PROMETHEUS OMG SO SAD!!! He needed a hug like whoa. You could feel his heart breaking in two.

And then, when he got Sam on the radio "good to hear your voice" I about imploded.

And "Don't you ever give up?" "Not until I'm dead...sometimes not even then."
*squishes him*

And now you've zoomed ahead of me! We did Doctor Who instead of Stargate last night.

I especially liked Teal'c's greeting of Sam, when she appeared after the Prometheus blew up. He looked nearly in tears, poor lamb. But oh, it must've been torture for Daniel, not knowing... they seemed to be in prison for a while, although Stargate doesn't always make the timeframe clear.

Loved SG-1 negotiating - Sam from the Caledonian side, Daniel (as ever) on the 'bad guys' side (not that they were bad, as such), and Cam sort of representing the Tauri. I so wanted him to blow up the damn satellite anyhow - that was only ever going to end badly. Although I didn't expect them to slip the knife in at the end, when it seemed like it was all over... Ow.

(I would've said all this on your lj, but I wasn't sure about commenting on older posts.)

And I figured I'd better get ahead - I have a tendancy to watch these things in clumps, and then not watch for a week or so - so I don't want to miss out on the meta! *g*

Oh, no kidding. When we were watching I turned to my mom and announced "Teal'c's GONNA CRY!!!!" It was....amazing.

I'm pretty sure Daniel was there for a few days. I mean, he'd been there what, 2-3 days before Prometheus showed up. And I'm sure it was at least a day from when it blew to when people assembled at Caledonia and longer until they got their plan in action and he found out his team was alive. And he knew the Prometheus blew, so it was likely that, even if his team was alive, people he knew died. And, in a lot of ways, he's going to consider this to be All His Fault.

They didn't need to lay a hand on the poor guy to torture him.

Definitely awesome on the negotiating - though I was with you. I was yelling at Cam to just blow it anyway, because the deal the Caledonians were being offered was crap and I knew Rand was going to betray them (when the president told them to arm the satellite I shouted "see! told you!"). I didn't expect the end to be quite so bad...but yeah, very possible and very ow.

(here is fine - my LJ is fine too. I've comments set to email)

Going ahead is just fine. I might get to one tonight. (things have been busy around here, and we alternate in episodes of Doctor Who and SGA among SG-1, plus I'm getting hooked on Farscape (it feels like I watch so much, but I watch so much less than the average American))

I adored the next episode (the name of which I keep forgetting). It was a good thing to follow Ethon with, I felt. Also, SG-1 are totally hot throughout the episode. Really, seriously hot. *g*

I'm going to have to watch Farscape at some point. And SGA. I'm resisting for the moment. Haven't the time, dammit.

Yeah...I'm between jobs right now so I'm swimming in time (and evil job apps).

I watched SGA before SG-1 so now SG-1 is new to me and we're watching SGA so my mom can see that too. Farscape I just poked at a few days ago and...it's not the same squee of Stargate, but it's definitely good and I can see it being addictive. Also Ben Browder is all sorts of hot and awesome. It reminds me just a little of Firefly (if you've seen that) - different in a lot of ways, but similar feel in some.

Ack. Firefly. I watched the film, and have borrowed the series to watch from my brother, and had it months and still not watched it, despite the fact that I loved the film...

*has a long, long list of things to watch, also including Angel*

Ugh. I hate job applications. I always mean to photocopy them so I can just transfer the information and not have to look it up again every damn time... But then they always ask different levels of detail... Good luck with that!

Oh, the show is way, way, way, way better than the movie was. And it's only, what, 14 episodes? So at least it isn't a huge commitment. I'm sure you'll get to it someday.

Yep. Apps suck. What sucks more is sending them out and never hearing back (I'd rather a rejection than silence). But I've got some leads now that look promising. *crosses fingers*

[identity profile] pepper-field.livejournal.com 2007-05-01 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, silence is the worst, because then you just don't know if it got lost, if they didn't like it, if they just had too many good candidates, if they're actually planning to get back to you but not yet... That's rotten. Fingers crossed for you.

Go! Watch Firefly now! Become a crazy vaguely creepy fanatic too!

Seriously, the series is ten times better than the movie. I think you'd especially dig the episode 'Shindig'. It's funny and angsty all at the same time.

BTW, totally awesome wacky fics! Loved the wings one especially. I had to read the Jack/Felger one from between my fingers. I'm now disturbed to no end.

I so will. But not just now. Soon, soon.

And, ta! I'd actually thought vaguely of the Jack/Felger one since I saw that scene in Avenger 2.0. Because, apparently, my brain is that warped. *g*
