Extremely boring post. Really.

Today we have Drama in the office. I am staying clear, because I don't know who's right or wrong, and I don't especially care, but it's making for a very tense afternoon. On the other hand, that also means it's peaceful. Except for the odd explosion of accusations. Oy.

I discovered this weekend that I can write 450-word application letters that sound disturbingly... professional. I resisted learning Business Speak for the longest time, but it seems that it's seeped into my consciousness. I can say things like "proactive" and "managing expectations" without any apparent irony. Depressing, I tell you. But useful. Le sigh.

We're still havering about the flat. It's been on the market for a while, which is a worry, but also means that if we do decide to take it, it'll probably still be there. Anyhow, we'll probably go look at some more, soon. And that pub won't be too far away, wherever we are in Oxford. :)

Oh noes! Sudden drilling! *hides under desk*

Eeeeeee! I missed a post somewhere so I didn't know you were seriously considering Oxford again. Come! It'll be brilliant! We'll hang out again and swap books!

If you need advice about areas in Oxford to look out for (positively or negatively) just let me know.

:D Yes! Oh, swapping books... oh how I miss that. I've been living at a distance from all my friends for too damn long. I've been deprived!

And, ta - I might email you about that. We've got some of an idea, having looked last year and this year, and I've been getting advice from dear ol' dad - but it's more than 30 years since he lived there, so it may be a little outdated. :)

I once used Mitigate, substantiate, and promulgate all in one paragraph. I was rather amused at myself.

Ooooooooooo! *is impressed* I don't actually know what promulgate means. It's like being able to speak a second language, isn't it? I'm praying I don't start using phrases like "blue-sky thinking" in regular conversation, in case normal people shun me and drive me from the village with flaming torches and pitchforks.

It could happen.

Business Speak is evul. I'm still not actually good at it, although I'm getting better at sounding important when I write letters for clients. :-)

I hope you find a great place!

It creeps up on you. I've been immersed in it, over the last year, so I guess it's no surprise. Like people who learn another language by going to live in another country for a few months. An evul country.

Ta! Fingers crossed.

In my experience, which is limited to school/office drama; office drama is never made of win. Business speak writing could be a useful skill. Could work it into a fanfic, perhaps...Sg-1 visits planet of the overly proper office folk? No, sounds more like a Dr. Who episode...well one could think on it...

Hah! Well, as a matter of fact, I did use the business speak in a fic, once. http://pepper-field.livejournal.com/30695.html It's the only good use I've found for it. :)

Yes, office drama for the lose. Uff.
