(no subject)

You know you've read too much fanfic when, upon reading meeting minutes, you come across the instructions for who should be taking an action written as "MK / CR / PA", and your first thought is "OT3 pr0n!". *reaches for brain bleach*

I must, must, must get around to writing my report on my visit to 'Alfred: Warfare, Wealth & Wisdom' - an exhibition that I went to see after [personal profile] aelfgyfu_meadmentioned it (and I'm so glad I went, Aelf! It rocked. If you want an exhibition booklet, I got an extra one). King Alfred was a fascinating chap (if a bad cook). More soon.

Speaking of archaeology porn, I have a great new idea for one of my British Museum prompts. It's going to be a story in pictures. Playtime on Photoshop for me, this weekend. *hearts Photoshop*

What else can I tell you about...  I was trying to figure out today if it was just me who was this childish, until I heard a voice nearby pipe up, "Is it just me who find it funny that the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families is called Ed Balls?" Oh, thank god. Yes, that was today's edition of 'Politics With Pepper: A Completely Frivolous Viewpoint'.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [profile] annerbhp!

Oh - that Alfred thing sounds fascinating! I look forward to your write up.

It really was. Thousand-year-old books! I had a little Daniel moment.

I'm not even a slasher, but the initials jumped out at me before I read the paragraph and there was just a moment of, "Wait: who is MK? CR? Is this a fandom I don't know?"

Glad you liked the exhibition! I so wish I could go! I would be happy to take an exhibition booklet off your hands!

Hee. No, DEFINITELY not a new fandom. Urgh.

And, cool - let me know how I can get the booklet to you, and I'll send it on, or bring it to Dragon*Con, or whatever. :) My email is pepper_f_21@yahoo.com.

"Is it just me who find it funny that the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families is called Ed Balls?"

Bwah! You know, it's actually sort of scary.

I once knew a guy named Harry Downer.

Yeah, we had fun with that one, too, defining different things that would be a 'hairy downer'.

*sigh*

Good times.

*snort*

I'm glad I'm not the only one, then. Because I keep hearing his name in very serious contexts - on the news, and in these little email updates at work about related stuff, and I just... every time, a part of my brain goes, "Heh heh." :D

I pity the newscasters who have to keep a straight face while they say his name. Because I know I'd be snickering.

Hee! I didn't know that. Excellent.

Sometimes I think that people with bad names are driven to make something of themselves just that little bit more, you know? (And do you get the ads for Hiscox Insurance, where you are? Never fails to amuse me.)

Thank you! (Every time you talk about your British Museum trips I get this deafening squee in the back of my mind reminding me that I will be there soon! I'm buying my plane tickets today! Eeeeiiiiee!)

Yay! Aw, we absolutely must meet up, when you do!

Happy birthday! I was crap and didn't realise it was approaching, but I am writing a ficlet now, because I... tripped over some inspiration on the way home. :)

Story in pictures! Looking forward to it.

I'd totally read "Politics With Pepper" (or watch it). Also, I am totally that childish.

I try to be serious about politics. Sometimes I succeed. But mostly... Ed Balls! *is completely juvenile*

Story in pictures soooooon.
