(Almost forgot:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
secretrebel!
I've been trying out Adobe ImageReady, and (naturally) did some Stargate things. They're too big to upload as icons (dammit), but I'm posting them anyhow... Use them if you want, credit, etc.
And, dammit, I realised I'd copied a line from one of Jojo's fics - totally unintentionally. I hadn't read the story in ages, but was just reading some of hers today, and in 'Delayed Reaction' Jack has a line about telling the truth to total strangers. Which I've totally copied in 'Actions Speak Louder'. Bollox.
My brain has a huge capacity for retaining this stuff - precise lines from stories I read years ago - and it sometimes comes out in my fic. When I realise I've done it, I edit it out - but I guess I'm not always aware of doing it. Must Try Harder, next time.
I seem to have a very visual memory for words. If I've seen something written down, I tend to remember it clearly, and for years. There are still lines from books I read as a child that pop into my head sometimes. But my auditory word-memory is crap. If someone says something to me, I forget it within moments. It's a real pain when my boss asks me to do something, and I've forgotten what it was by the time I get back to my desk. Hence why I prefer communicating via email.
Grah.
edit: And I'm starting to wonder if I got the name of the Council leader from someone else, too. I just have this nagging feeling that I've heard it before. I may be wrong, but...
*cries*
This is making me sad and annoyed at myself.
And...

I have that problem, too. And I handle it the same way you do - fix it as soon as I realize it. ;) And I hate it because I have moments like, "Hey, that's a good line! Wait...damn it!"

I have a very visual memory, more for images than words though. I'm bad about remembering peoples faces, but I can remember what they had on. Guess it's all those years of working in retail.
I find I accidentally quote movies in my fics more than anything else. Sometimes I'll change it. Sometimes I'll leave it in as an homage and to see if anybody gets it.

I have a terrible memory for faces - but for clothes I'm even worse! I'm borderline male about clothes - I almost never notice if someone is wearing something new. Odd, isn't it, what the brain chooses to notice? I remember landscape really well, for some reason. I don't get lost much.
And movies, yes - I don't mind quoting them so much, at least it's a different medium. *g* I tend to quote the same movies, time and again. Often The Princess Bride. *loves*

Speaking of Tombstone I sense an icon making mood coming on. I *need* some Doc Holiday icons.
Movies and shows I obsessively watch tend to fall into my vocabulary and never leave. Lately from my recent House obsession I've noticed a lot of 'Everybody lies' and 'It's never lupus'. You'd be surprised how much you can use "It's never lupus."

And also, "I want your blood, I want your soul, and I want 'em both right now." Loved Ringo, too.

Besides, it’s So True. And it fit the story nicely.
In other words, I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you.

Homage, yes. That's what it is. Not me copying. Nonono. *shakes head violently*

And i have to say that writing SG1 fic is an odd experience, after such a long time of writing my own stuff. I find little things creeping in that most definitely don't belong! lol

And then I run out of ideas. *g*
