Okay, since your managers are too wishy-washy to decide for themselves what time you should be invited (not ORDERED, but INVITED) to go to the staff conference, here's a couple of voting buttons. They read 'morning' and 'afternoon'. Answer by, oh, today, as I need to pass on the information asap.

You might find that you don't get your choice, because no doubt you'll all want to go, en masse, to the same session. Our customers might find that there's no one to answer their queries, because, rather than make sure there's enough people from each department to cover, they've instead let you choose, and - as mentioned - you'll all go in departmental clumps. Apparently you're too scared to go on your own. So much for that customer satisfation initiative, eh?

Other department managers have simply sent me a list saying 'morning' or 'afternoon' beside each staff member they manage, and if someone really can't make the session to which they've been invited, they'll be allowed simply to switch. Don't let that bother you. Similarly, don't let the endless emails I'll send out, chasing up the answers I've still not recieved, bother you. If the servers seize up once again, hey - at least you got a choice, right?

Regards,

Me.

Ah, choice that's very important. Almost as important as the illusion of choice.

Yes. As I'd anticipated, everyone - every single person - has opted for the afternoon session. So half of them will have to be told that, actually, they'll need to go to the morning session. No choice.

Whee. This is fun. Can I do it again tomorrow?

Or you could dress up in a darlek outfit and rush around shrieking EXTERMINATE and making static crackling noises?

It's tempting. It really is. But I settled for doodling daleks on my notepad all through a meeting, instead.

There are T-shirts? I hope they say "I HATE YOU ALL FOR WASTING MY TIME, YOU UTTER BASTARDS!"

Or... something. :)

Yes. This should do the trick...

Ugh. I have more today. Everyone from those departments now assumes I'm organising the whole thing. They keep asking me stupid questions, and looking at me in disbelief when I tell them I'm not. Apparently they can't get their heads around the concept of "I'm just gathering names, and will pass the list on to the organising team. That's all. My involvement ends there. If your managers had done their jobs properly, you'd never have heard from me, and I wouldn't be mixed up in this whole stupid thing."

*sigh* People suck.

Still, I had a good rant about it, yesterday. *g*
