Feeling a bit like crawling into a hole today. Trying not to send out bitchy emails to colleagues – it's not their fault I'm on a hormonal downswing. Still, this is usually followed by a manically busy upswing in the next day or so - just in time for me to finish this darn remix. But, ugh, if you want me to volunteer for anything, the next couple of days will be the time to ask. If the world were a better place, I'd be allowed to stay home and eschew all company until I was on a more even keel. And I'd be banned from the internet, too, instead of being allowed to blurt out all kinds of personal information that you probably don't want to know.

Okay. *deep, calming breaths* My mind controls my body, and not the other way around. Ha! Who'm I kidding?

Oh, I wish I'd shut up. I shall think of fannish things, that's far more interesting, and less liable to embarrass me later.

The [profile] samcarter_gen  comm has been having lots of great challenges, and I'm all for it, but I've been really crap about actually following through with my intentions. So I think, after I've got the remix out the way, I must do something about that. I'm issuing myself a challenge to put my money where my mouth is, and write a Sam gen fic.

And I've thought of a Stargate vid I want to do. Well, actually, it's been in my head for a while, but it just came back with a vengeance yesterday when my iPod started playing the song that had made me think of it in the first place. It's a completely silly idea, but it makes me smile every time I think about it. I just need to see if I have the right sort of video editing programme on my computer, and if not, find one, and find the footage I need, and the music, and work out how to get it all to the right format, and time it with the sound, and how to do picture-in-picture effects... Yeah, this might take a while, don't hold your breath. But, ooh, it'd be perfect for the next [profile] carnivalofsquee...

Is it just me, or are there a lot of muppets around lately?

Heh. I keep feeling horribly guilty, because it's my comm and I never manage to write anything for it.

Heh. But you have the excuse of actually starting the comm - you're prompting everyone else. It's like... a get-out-of-jail-free card, IMO. People should bring the fic to you.

Plus you're setting the challenges, which are really, really cool. :)

People should bring the fic to you.

I like that logic. :)

And glad you like the challenges.

I *hate* those unproductive days. Where just...bleh. I just crossed over into the uber-productive days...and I have nothing to do. At work, I mean.

sigh.

Me too (hate the unproductive days, I mean). I know I'm not going to get anything done, and I sort of feel like phoning in to work and saying, "Look, I'm just a waste of space today. I promise I'll make it up tomorrow, but today I should Just. Not. Bother."

Somehow I don't think they'd buy it, though... :)

Wouldn't it be nice if they *did* buy it? Or if people were honest enough to admit that they only really did work about four full days? Then we could potentially have another day off.

Sigh. Back to filing.

There's this great - and I think very true - theory that you actually get a lot more work done if you spend less time doing it... if you see what I mean. If you're allowed to have more free time, then the time you do spend at work, you're less stressed, and more productive, more focused.

I'd love to test this theory but I have an unfortunate need to pay rent.

It's a theory that proved true for everything I did today.

And in college, for that matter.

*random hug*

I know what you mean about the Sam Gen community. I keep thinking the prompts are cool and that I would write something and I just kinda haven't yet. I love writing Sam, I should have ideas out my ears. Meh.

*hugs again* Hope the funk is gone for the weekend and you can be super productive in whatever you put your mind to!

lots of muppets? should I ask?

Ta for the hugs. I feel much better now. :)

They are really cool prompts, aren't they, for the Sam gen comm. And some good responses, too, that I must see if I've actually left feedback about... I don't know why I'm so bad when it comes to gen fic.

And... well, it was just that, within about two days, I saw muppet icons with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] is surrounded by 'em, and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] posted a gleeful vid of Animal, Beaker, and Doctor Bunsen Honeydew (which, incidentally, is one of the best names in the history of names, IMO). There may have been more, I forget. *wants a muppet icon, now*

There are always a lot of muppets around. It's just you can't always see them.

OoooEEEEoooo.

I'm now picturing those prairie dogs living under my sofa, and the goblins from Labyrinth living in my laundry hamper... hee.

*goes hunting*
