Tales of the Alhambra

Home! Home again! Well, right now I'm at work, but you know what I mean. I return full of tales of Moorish palaces, great works of art, sangria, excited archeologists, poppies, prostitutes, walled citadels, swords, marzipan hams, flamenco posing, and churros con chocolate (I prefer the Catalan spelling: xocolata. Everything's better spelled with an X). Oh, and orange invisible nun cookies, of course.

But I am very tired (from, well, staying up late last night to sort my photos out, actually - I was home by 3pm, and Spain is only an hour ahead), and sadly I have much work to catch up on, so all I will say for now is: it was AWESOME to meet up with [personal profile] abyssinia!

Well, that or you are all figments of my over-active imagination.

(OMG INVISIBLE NUN COOKIES)
(OMG I DIDN'T KILL MY SEAT MATES ON MY LAST FLIGHT)
(OMG WHY DID I ONLY SLEEP 4.5 HOURS MY FIRST NIGHT HOME AFTER 20 HOURS TRAVELING TODAY IS GOING TO BE THE PANTS)

Is "excited archaeologists" something different from plastic ones whose names were everywhere? Also, I think it's a sign of the sleep-dep and brain-drain that I read through your list thinking "oh, yeah, I forgot about that!"

Also, also, I almost feel like I shouldn't tell you about Wednesday because I saw so much stuff you would have loved and I discovered that in our hunt for chocolate of valor we missed it by about 15 feet and I saw a prostitute make a hook-up and figured out where they were going on the other street. And the Thysessensesensne museum had a special Monet exhibit and I spent most of it wishing you were there to teach me how to appreciate it all better (except the top floor which was all Christ or various saints being tortured or biblical events displayed by people who were white, chubby, and in rennaisance-y garb which is just wrong. I don't need to appreciate that floor). But there were Van Goghs! And Monets! and I took notes of paintings I especially liked so someday I can figure out what styles I do like and there was a Spanish Moir-like guy who wasn't Moir but I actually liked. Um. HI! WHY ARE WE NOT STILL IN SPAIN?

No death! Though I did try to buy some food at my first US airport and I spent a minute staring at my American money and thinking "how does this work again?"

(And it's just "pants", not "the pants", btw. *g*)

I can't emphasize how it'll be extra pants by using "the"? :P
*makes note*

Oh, true, there was a very happy flail.

I mean, I did like the Reina Sofia and now there's something to come back to, but, yeah, the Thyssenianinaotinsreesoint was pretty good. I do think I didn't appreciate it enough for the entry fee (I went, um, faster than the suggested needed time) but I still liked it, aside from that top floor section. So when you go back.

And, yeah, I went EVERYWHERE. The Naval museum (which was in the Navy headquarters, wow) and then across town to the Debod, and then over beyond Plaza Mayor for lunch and then to get stamps and then back to the Thysssenseninain (near the Navy museum) and then the Retiro (gorgeous gorgeous park - you would have loved it) and then back to the hotel (put me back in the same room) and then out to dinner and, yeah, LOTS of walking. The gazpacho place was crowded so I went back to the first place again. Which wasn't nearly as good. But I just got ingredients to try making my own!

INVISIBLE NUN COOKIE!

Whee! Okay, you TOTALLY need to write the tales of your grand Spanish adventure, because it sounds fabulous!
