Okay, seeing as the Air Force clothing regulations .pdf document I posted about the other day seemed to be useful, I thought I'd recommend this one, too: it's the US Dep't of Defence Emergency War Surgery Handbook (also a .pdf). I've mentioned it before to people, but not rec'd it on here.
It's basically all about emergency medical procedures in the field - what you can do, what you should do, what you should know, etc. It's stuff that I'd imagine Sam, Jack and Cam would have had some training on - and Daniel, Teal'c and Vala too, one would hope. It runs through pretty much anything someone in the field might encounter (except Weird Alien Stuff, of course), including things like weapons effects, parachute injuries, shock, burns, breaks, infections, anesthesia, radiological and chemical injuries, pediatric care, care of prisoners of war, the Glasgow Coma Scale.... It's useful for making us non-medical folk look less stupid when writing medical stuff - and thus not pissing off
crazedturkey . ;-)
And also makes you think, wow, being in the military is really dangerous, isn't it? (Uh, duh, yeah.)
Go write h/c, dudes!

| You Are Surrealism |
![]() Dreamy and idealistic, you've created a world that is all your own. It's very likely that you've either dabbled in drugs or are naturally trippy. You are always trying to push beyond the boundaries of your culture and society. You believe that art, love, and freedom can change the world. |
edit: Drabble of your choice to the first person who can name where my new journal subheading thingy comes from. "Feet first - it's the only way." And
freekster, you don't count.

And ooh, Monet, yes. Lovely, lovely, lovely. My mum's been to his home in... Provence, I think... and seen the bridge and the waterlilies.
