I completely get the emotional attachment to Stargate. It's far from perfect - there are shows with better scripts (anything by Joss Whedon *g*), more consistent acting, more interesting ideas... The effects are pretty good, but that's never a thing on which to hang a show. But there's something about it that just... grabbed me and won't let go. I really can't work out what that is, except that it seems to have a spark of humanity to it that I love. It's not the coolest or the cleverest, but it has got character and heart, and it feels like the people involved are truly involved - they care about the show they're making.
